RE: THE SOLUTION TO HAITI'S PROBLEMS CAN NOT COME FROM DR or MURO POR LA VIDA
We all need to volunteer to help restore our culture and people. Not only on the Haitain issue but in our Dominican civic Degeneration. We are so far making the first steps by voicing our opinions in spite of "Lo que diran", thanks to Generoso. "Because, Lo que no es bueno para el enjambre no es bueno para la abeja"

Poponlaburra, I do not know how dangerous you think that the Dominican civic Degeneration problem is but you can be sure of this: the Haitian problem is extremely dangerous for us and urgently we have to do something about it… urgently.
We can work on other problems at the same time or later but this problem is becoming a nightmare for us and we have to do something about it as soon as possible.

Thankfully you wake up in the morning after a nightmare, this Haitian "friendly invasion" just keeps
getting worse and worse, and the nightmare never ends. And we keep being asleep and dormant not wanting to face the problem.
We have to repatriate the Haitians sooner rather than later. The quid pro quo of cheap and reliable
labor has to be forgotten and put in the past. The Dominicans think they are exploiting the Haitians paying then little or nothing, to the Haitians little is a lot more than nothing, as long as they can come to
DR and be hired by irresponsible and unscrupulous Dominicans that only care about more profits.
Employers that hire illegal undocumented Haitians have to be fined and/or jailed. The 80/20 labor and vagrancy laws have to be enforced and repatriation programs have to begin immediately for our survival as a nation.

RE: THE SOLUTION TO HAITI'S PROBLEMS CAN NOT COME FROM DR or MURO POR LA VIDA
Did you guys see the article" Visit by U.S., Haitian delegation expected to roil Dominican nationalists" in DT where they are not letting anyone post.

First of all DT editors (I hope some one will sees these posts) you tided our hands by not letting us defend our pride and reputation.
This bunch of "give me, give me" come to DR empty handed to demand from us and to intimidate us like telling us "You better behave we are watching you".

First of all, they are a group of freeloaders, spreading the "Give me give me" mentality, why didn’t they go to Haiti and bring Haitians what they need.

Does any body know what did they bring to help us ease this burden?
Did they bring money for the Dominican government to use for the Dominican people?
Did they offer to send Doctors to volunteer in DR hospitals?
Did they bring medicine and medical supply and equipment that are so scarce and expensive?
What did they give in order to receive?

If they really wanted to help the Haitian cause they will bring a group of expert in environmental and soil conservation. Why didn't they bring soil, seeds and trees from USA and Canada to Haiti so they can plant their own crops?
It is not hard to make your own compost. Dominicans could have helped by sending our fecal matter from treatment plants to be used with the compost.

We need to stop and send this problem somewhere else.
This problem is taking effort, energy, and focus away from th eDominican goverment that should be directed for the advancement of our people and for other internal problems (like criminal activities) we need to resolve.
Let operate and move on.

The editors at DT from what I have heard feel that the articles that are relating to Haiti create a lot of controversy and sometimes stress the system that can only handle so many replies or postings.

But you are so right, the members of this "delegation" have the same "give me mentality" and can't shake it off, it is ingrained in their genes. These freeloaders that came here not spending a penny out of their pocket and are probably staying in a fancy five star hotel, and certainly not in Avenida Duarte for sure, are just professional moochers. In a way they resemble our politicians that feel that the state owes them a living for them to put on monkey suits and smooth talk everybody.

poponlaburra
The international community including the USA, Canada, Brasil, France and England want us to absorb
the Haitian exodus and mass immigration, and they keep at it methodically pointing the blame for the Haitian disaster at us.
France in particular does not want to take responsibility for their blame in Haiti's problems and does not want to cope with the Haitian illegal immigration now affecting Martinique, Guadaloupe and French Guiana.
By the same token the population of a British domain, Turks and Caicos is composed of 40% Haitians as well as Dominicans, the British do not want to lose control of the native population majority through illegal immigration, and will do anything possible for the DR to keep being the international
scapegoat for the Haitian "solution".
Furthermore, it is our responsibility to enforce the labor laws that are depressing Dominican wages, why?
Because it is very simple Dominicans are being paid the same as Haitians as Haitians are depressing the labor market with their abundant supply of cheap labor.

RE: THE SOLUTION TO HAITI'S PROBLEMS CAN NOT COME FROM THE DR
by poponlaburraVacanos,
It is true "These people agenda is to ridicule us into submission with their race card".

We must clarify that we do not have a problem with few Haitians living in DR like back in the late seventies and early eighties when there was a balance in population.
We do have a huge problem now for the extreme number of them in our soil. It is a natural reaction that any country or people would have if face with such situation. We are not the only ones.
If this continuous, in thirty more years we will not have people looking like the Mirabal sisters, but will be looking like Sonia.

Popon exactly there is not a problem with a controlled Haitian immigration. We just can’t allow them to invade us like what they doing now and bringing all their misery and backward all at once. Popon back in the mid 80's before I went to the USA I had to stay with my father family side in a campo of villa Gonzalez, Esperanza. The people working the land were all Dominican including me I did it as a part time after school. Then came the cheap Haitian labor, there go the Dominican working la Tierra. I want you to go this place and find me now one Dominican. No way a Dominican will work for what the Haitian get pay and the hour they have to put up. any Dominican who doesn’t see this way like apparently here there is a few God bless them for they don’t know what they seeing. popon not only that the mirabal sister will be just a myth in 30 year and the one everybody in the island will look up for bravery will be Sonia Pierre.

GIZMO Mirabal4Ever don't believe the hype as for blaming the Dominican goverment for all the problems in the border. The Haitian drama is strictly an economic one, from the standpoint of illegal entry. Is like applying the same question about the U.S. border with Mexico. U.S. Immigration Services is enforcing in the border, but illegals are still attempting and are entering the country illegaly. The Haitians are escaping the extreme poverty there, and lack of jobs. Now it's true that something radical has to be implemented and one thing is deporting the Haitian illegals first in mass. The D.R. could deport 400,000 to even 500,000 illegal Haitians per year, if they are funded and organized in a correct fashion it can be done. But a wall has to be built between both country's. And then we could fully militarize the border and enforce our immigration laws to the full extent. Very importantly is to enact by law a provision that includes zero employment for Haitian illegals ofcourse. Then i guarantee you Haitians will be discouraged in crossing the border.
