Haitian officials, however, say they're not issuing the travel documents needed to process most deportees. Handfuls of deportees with valid passports have been returned to Haiti since Dec. 5, following a three-month break in deportations, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel. But Haitian officials say the storm-batted Caribbean country needs time to recover and can't handle the return of its citizens. A spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says the lack of travel documents means some deportees are spending more time in crowded detention centers. According to ICE, about 600 Haitians are being detained and more than 240 others are under a form of house arrest and being monitored with electronic ankle bracelets. http://www.heritagekonpa.com/hkhome.htm Edited on 2/16/2009 4:37 PM by USADR. |

We, Dominicans, are heroes with our whole life dealing with this kind of neighbors: “In an article on the situation of the Haitians in United States of America the information emphasizes that the Government of President Rene Preval administratively blocks the possibility of the return [of 30,000 Haitians] because they do not have the means to welcome them in their country.” “The Haitian authorities are blocking the deportation… The administrative blockade of Haiti consists of refusing to transact necessary documents for the return of the deportees… the number of Haitian deportees rose to an average of 156 monthly and from the past October it has been reduced to 17.” We love Haiti, we are “proud to be Haitians”, Oh! Haití Chérie, that is what a lot of Haitians says, but someone else must take care of our citizens and we are not asking you if you want to do it, you have to do it. Can you see what is waiting for us with our own Haitian problem? Edited on 2/16/2009 9:10 PM by PeRod. |

Apparently some of these subjects have criminal records. I hope that the goverment in D.R. takes the haitian illegal problem more seriously and tries to stem the flood of illegals coming from our neighbor in the west, or else dominicans will perhaps become a minority in their own country, due to the high birth rates in Haiti. And the saga continues "TRUJILLO TU SI HACES FALTA HOY." Edited on 2/17/2009 2:59 AM by Gizmo. READ A BOOK FOR REAL! BECOME A BOOKWORM MISTER BEFORE YOU GET SERVED!!!!! |

Easy easyrider what i'm trying to point out is that if the U.S.A can't handle 30,000 haitians inmigrants and feel the need to return them how is it that the defenders of the haitian cause (witch are always craying racism and descrimination in D.R and descredicting my country worldwide) espect the Dominican Republic to deal with 2,000,000,000 of them. Can you e.x.p.e.l.l double standard If the D.R government deports 30,000 haitians we will be denounce as a racist country by the same haitians we provide with shelter and food. One good example of whom I'm talking about Sonia Pierre (look her up and you'll learn what mal agradecida means) Edited on 2/17/2009 3:06 PM by old_school_trinitario. |

Is he still in France hiding or did he eat himself to death already? Bring his fat ass back to haiti and let the locals carve him up and and make pinchos out of him. |
