I am all for that peaceful Faith In The Dominican People since I, too, have lived in DR and know this Dominican-Haitian standoff all too well. My question is: When will Dominican Today banned or delete Dominican members for using defaming condescending remarks about Haiti & Haitians?

It says on here: "Write your opinion here. Please keep your comment relevant to this article. Please note that any comments which contain offensive language or discriminatory expressions may be edited/removed. Please read our terms of use and posting rules. Any comment containing vulgar language, offense to other posters/general public or the majority of text in uppercase, will be deleted."

Haitians been telling people about their stories, struggles and plights a specific post that has done so so well is this one on here titles. A DAY IN HAITI: One Video At A Time.

Please don't tell me that this is yet another identity of Hispanolo?

Not ever traveling to the Dominican Republic before I'll entrust the following question to those that have experience there. Jabao, Lautaro, Cibaeno, MrDom and even Hispanolo as well as any others willing to give some info. Which city would you recommend I visit if I were to go to the DR? SD or Santiago? Or perhaps another locale? I'd like to visit someday so that I can make my own conclusions regarding the country. I don't think I can grasp what the country has to offer through websites so when I have the time I'll probably think of visiting.

I am a friend of his whom he has shown how they do business on here on Dominican Today. I am a friend who happens to realize and have seen the truth on what he has been trying to say about the rules on here how biased they are and how they have only enforced the rules on here with partiality and discrimination by this site's Admin Staffs that is clear. I took a look around and have read several posts by both Dominicans and Haitians and I have seen an extreme amount of posts, comments and remarks that are left un-reprimanded as most of them happened to be from mostly Dominicans more so they are from Haitians. What's up with tat?

So, just another typical partial prejudicial Campaign on the part of this site, period right (l l)?. However, would you not say it is a waste of time since people can always open new accounts? Also does it not show the biased double standard on this site part that the left other negative comments from some members who coincidentally happens to all be Dominicans? Huh, one wonders right...

I say visit Santo Domingo for the big city feel and visit Santiago for more of the authentic Dominican feel. Santo Domingo his huge with alot going on. It's very commerical and in a sense has combined Dominican culture with a North American/International flare. Santo Domingo also has the "El malecon" the side avenue that faces the Caribbean sea. It's very nice site to see and have an Helado Bon. Santiago is a bit smaller than SD with a great night life/. The city has more of a traditional or authentic Dominican feel to it. Less commercial and more Dominican. The woman are also revered as the most beautiful in the country.

Campo, DR is quite a tranquil and safe area even though it is just about a few reaching miles from Santo Domingo the capital itself. My Grandmother and mother still reside there. Lovely affordable houses there in case you would like to buy one. Cabrera, DR is not too bad since it is not as Toursit focused as the other tourist regions. La Romana, DR is beautiful and people there are very educated and it does not get as much over exposed attention as most prominent cities in DR which has allow it to be a safe place but as a Haitian you may not want to see the Sugar Cane plantations and Habitations there... as they might cause you to grow resentful and sad. Higuey, DR is not too bad.

Other than that or for the most part, I would say many other lay low towns and areas like Sosua and Puerto Plata are safe but they are increasingly starting to become dangerous with Tigre, and they are all tourist oriented but still you may not find much to do unless you are a local or know some locals, otherwise you will be confined to those tourist areas and spend all your money senselessly. If you want to see Haitians I would suggest Cangreros and Montellano. My best advice on the nicest beaches of places in DR would have to be Bahia De Las Aguilas, DR pristine beach; Salto Del Limon, DR or Las Terrenas, DR there are not others like them that I know of or can think of... Any place to stay away from Santo Domingo... Go to San Pedro De Macoris, DR and we also have San Francisco De Macoris, DR they are not closed to each other; so do not get the idea they are like North & South Dakota, USA (lol). Those two are known simply to most hip ones as SPDM & SFDM. Santo Domingo crime wise is worse than Port-Au-Prince; it is like a vortex for crimes there and the Drivers drive drunk and high on drugs. Take a gun with you, that is what I always do.

SANTIAGO for example is a Santo Domingo light, but there are good decent stay home girls in Santiago who are not all out there like most girls from those tourist areas who are about money and discreet prostitution the people there also are smart and real. Oh I almost forget... make sure to visit MOCA, DR which is not too far from both Santiago or Santo Domingo. This area is so peaceful with hardly any racism much like Campo. Oh you have to go to Monte Christi, DR. Overall, go to Punta Cana, DR where it is very restrictive of letting locals into the resort areas and you could even take the Fiery to Puerto Rico for about $25 to 50 which is fun .

DO NOT go to Santo Domingo no matter what and if you do plan on going there make sure it is not for a long period of time. Santo Domingo in a sense is only good for sight seeing of tall buildings like you would in Manhattan, New York and it is awfully expensive there as the crime rate there is alarmingly high. There are alot to do in Santo Domingo, but make sure you are with Friends who are locals. Hey, ask Lautaro to meet up with you so maybe he could go with you places. Also remember, Do Not go to the Santo Dominigo Marecon if you are noticeably Haitian and alone or do not speak much spanish... anyway you may get robbed, mugged and get called Haitiano Diablo (L L). Kidding, but seriously though... the Marecon is somewhat tense in crime. The Marecon is like BICENTENAIR, HAITI with a view of the ocean... my car was robbed exactly 20 minutes after I parked it to go buy me a plate of food which was right around the corner from where I was parked. Oh if you want to experience the METRO then you are in the right place.

Lastly bring your gun with you like I always do or buy one once you get there and let me know if you need hook ups and always remember to shoot first and ask questions later in case of any possible confrontations with anyone period!!! Like I said, it is not DR the Country that is bad and there are very much so many great people there, but it is some of the people in some areas who tend to hold certain values that may not be friendly much like you have in the USA with Whites who will not accept some blacks no matter what like in WEST VIRGINIA.

In short, between Santo Domingo and Santiago I would say go to Santiago instead.

Poukisa ekzakteman ou vle ale Sendomeng; plezi oubyen asesman peyi a?

Si se plezy piga'w ale SanntoDomengo, ale Kabarete pito ki pwe Ayopo Pweltoplata a.

Si se dokimante ak plezi ou vle, mwen tap di'w ale Pweltoplata mande moun pou yo mennen ou Monnteyano nan Sanmann ou Chalabay pou ka ale we koman sitiyasyon Ayisyen yo ye. Tout sa ou ka jwen toulde la ansanm, plezi ak asesman'w la ou bezwen fe ya.

RE: Faith in the Dominican People
I'll take heed to everyone's advice when I make the trip. I don't know about the "bringing a gun" thing (exaggeration of crime or is it fact?) but I'm pretty sure that crime isn't as rampant and uncontrolled in SD as say to the favelas of Rio or even Port-au-Prince with its huge spike in kidnappings for example. I take caution everywhere I go so naturally I'll do the same when I decide to go to DR. If I go I'll make it a point to go with a Dominican friend and I'll most likely venture to Santiago in addition to the capital. Mwen ta renmen ale pou plezi (yon ti vakans) e pou asesman peyi.

Don't bring a gun even if crime was high. You could get shot because of bringing it.

The first thing you have to ask yourself is what do you want to do when you come to the DR. For cities, SD is better if you like shopping or if you want to go to the historic part (Zona Colonial, which is pretty safe). The botanical garden is nice also. But apart from those places I'm not sure what else you'd like to visit that is inside Santo Domingo.
