The detectives have been found NOT GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS.

This is really troubling. Everytime verdicts like these come down (Amadou Diallo) it enboldens the NYPD to act recklessly when dealing with people of color.

That's crazy. I was expecting another outcome. I wasn't there when it happened but apparently the jury thought Bell's friend (witness) was lying. I heard reports stating that the testimony and the police reports were different.

actually, NY4LIFE, it was not a jury trial. the cops invoked their right to have the trial presided over by a lone judge.

Disturbing but at the same time foreseeable given the precedent. I understand that the justice system has to err on the side of the police, but letting all three off completely? That seems dangerous. At least the one officer who fired OVER TWO DOZEN shots should see some sort of punishment, however lenient.

muchacho.....so you watched TV today. your comment is somewhat out of line..of the 3 officers involved in this tragedy 2 were of color. it is comments and attitude such as yours that create street problems. perhaps further thought on your part might be in order

Unfortunately, Blanco, when you are a police officer in NYC there is only one color...NYPD Blue!

That's not to say that the NYPD doesn't have issues of race and ethnicity to iron out within its own ranks, because it definitely does. But often times, the NYPD acts more with the mentality of "us versus them" than protectors of the people that they are sworn to serve. The "them" is anyone and everyone of color. Suffice it to note that this incident would never repeat itself at the doors of an upscale nightclub in the Upper East Side.

And it's a sad comment to make, but after the police academy is done with their recruits, they very clearly know who the "them" is.

I also didn't expect this outcome. How do you justify shooting arround 50 bullets at a person!!
