Bachata is the **** hehe.

I agree Bachata is getting very popular not just in Latin America, but all over the world. I have white, chinese, and Indian friends who love it even though they don't understand what is being said. And why shouldn't it? There are extremely talented artist behing the genre, the lyrics are ussually poetic, the rythnm is contagious, and there's nothing better than getting up close and personal while dancing a bachata with a Mamy Chula.

As far as Aventura being the best, I will have to dissagree. No doubt he's the most popular right now, but the best is still Antony Santos probably followed by Frank Reyes or Monchy & Alexandra.

The bachata is at its peak and only rising. The lyrics in that genre of music is what keeps me going. Within the bachata field we are starting to see this deviation btw. traditional and urban bachata. Aventura was the pioneer of such movement but they have been able to keep the integrity of the music alive while incorporating some modern sounds to the music. Now, many groups are embarking on creating this bachata urban sounds with the likes of Marcy Place, Toby Love, Divino, Xtreme, etc. I hope this new wave of artist doesn't hurt the quality of the music.

Currently, bachata is a traditional artist are at its strong-hold with anthony santos, frank reyes, zacarias ferreira, joe veras, hector acosta, El Chaval (Esos Amigos is a hot song!!!!!!), etc. I hope this music remains with its quality while embracing the urban style as well. Only time will tell if it will be like merengue and merengue de calle where one is replacing the other. Hopefully that won't be the case.

but those new artist who making a new type of bachata like toby love or toke d keda doing a good job also

What type of Latin music is heard in Europe consistently? I know when I studied abroad in Paris, France, I heard Obession on the radio as well as some Salsa. As I travelled to Italy and Spain I heard Aventura mostly.

No bachata or Merengue in the UK??

in london is mainly salsa and of course merengue
im going quite often to this famous night club there called bar salsa
and sometime you are lucky to hear bachata!
spain of course is more popular,same language
but can you imagine is my boyfriend who introduce me to juan luis guerra "el mejor"

That's crazy. Did you not like latin music before?? or where there not enough places, outlets, etc to listen to and experience the music. I know in Paris, the Saint-Michel area is where most of the latinbars/clubs are. Are you from Paris?

and i have been living in london since 11 years,but years ago before i knew dr,my best friend was crasy of salsa club and she told me recently that whenever they were putting bachata i loved it more than salsa
