RE: I LOVE Me Some BOSTON RED SOX!!! How Feel YOU?
I think I have an interesting if not bizarre story...

I was brought up in NY and was a Yankee fan for most of my life....

Im talking during teh channel 11 games, teh 'hey look at that shot! they got it really grooving , rocking that horseside corner, those Yankees come alive!"

But i nmoved back to dR and remianed a fan.....

but then it became to easy to be a yankee fan.... they spent the most and won the most... made me feel uncomfortble being a fan,...

then i moved to miami, then the marlins came....then alou was robbed of his mvp.... tehn i didnt have a team....

Ive always loved Pedro and jsut recently won an argumetn that he is the best pither in the last ten years based on stats alone.... but Pedro had never won a world series ring and I always wathced his games (still went win he played with mets agaisnt marlins), and developed a strogn attahment to Red sox while the had the biggest one -two since babe ruth (Ortiz-ramirez). so as a dominican I fell for the sox. .. and cheered pedro all the way tuntil he rec'd his ring!!!

But do you know what he did with the ring affter he won one ??

HE RETUnRNED THE DAMN RING!!! I though he get one with the mets after minaya made that great team. nope...... now, no one evn hired him!

Anyway, i still remained a Sox fan....

then they fired manny.......

Still a fan , but its dwindling!! i dont feel the love anymore!

Considering follwoing LAD...just to have fun with manny !

Mama Mia! Kid! It sounds like you are trapped in a horrible baseball romance... You must follow your heart.... And it seems your heart belongs to the Red Sox!
I grew up loving the Yankees, and I just think that as you said, their players are in for the money not for the love of the game.... it seems too franchise to me.... But give the Red Sox another chance, I think they are going to have a good year! Lets Go Red Sox!

RE: I LOVE Me Some BOSTON RED SOX!!! How Feel YOU?
I've noticed that many Dominicans like any MLB team BUT the Yankees. Men from my father's generation have always derided the Yankees as a racist organization, at least as far as latins are concerned (on a side note the Red Sox were the LAST major league team to break the color barrier, feilding an african-american for the first time some twelve years after Robinson initially played for the Dodgers). Indeed, the lack of latin ball players on the Yankee's roster for most of the period up until the mid 90s is glaring and the old contention that a mediocre white ball player who's name ends with a vowel will have a home in the Bronx still holds some weight but the Yankees have diversified with latino ball players in the last two decades. I've been a Yankee fan all my life despite the fact that my old man could never stand the team. It wasn't easy being a Yankee fan in the 80s, lemme tell ya. But they've more then made up for the bad times in my life time and I'm sure that they'll continue to do so. My only beef against the yanks is that they really and truly have forgotton about the average fan. The new stadium has ridiculous prices and if you lack cable good luck following the season. It's as if MLB, at least as far as the Yanks go, has become the sole domain of the well off.

Well said my good gentleman! I find that is true for most of them, when it comes to the network the games air on.... Thank God I can afford to have satelite tv and I get the sport/movie package! Cause I tell ya the games aired on the regular tv line-up are very few.....
By the way, how much did the prices go up for NY? I bought some red sox tickets and I think they went up about 9-10% except for the upper bleachers....

Last I heard the bleacher seets in the new yankee stadium are like 70 bucks. That's ridiculous. And yea, if it wasn't for the fact that I have the YES network at home I wouldn't be able to follow the season like I was able to back in the day when channel 11 aired yankee games. Baseball used to be the NATIONAL pasttime. In the past one would go into a stadium and run into people from all walks of life and from various socio-economic backgrounds. The crowds in Yankee stadium are getting more and more homogeneous ever since they started winning in the late 90s, allowing Steinbrenner to justify outrages prices. But hey, it is what it is. It's a business and that's the bottom line. But it's no wonder that baseball doesn't have the same hold over the American phsyche that it once had and the grip is only going to get weaker as a result of short sighted policies that are only concerned with the bottom line in the here and now, future fans be damned.
