RE: Miss Dominican Republic 2009
In-depth Review: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, ADA DELA CRUZ
by Nina Cleopatra
San Juan, Puerto Rico

Ada Aimée de la Cruz González grew up in Villa Mella, Dominican Republic. She represented her country in the Miss World 2007 pageant where she was touted as a big favorite to win but only placed as a semifinalist. Earlier this year, she was crowned Miss Dominican Republic 2009, representing San José de Ocoa, the original home province of her grandparents. Ada has won the right to represent her country at Miss Universe 2009. She is the second woman of noticeably black heritage to win the Miss Dominican Republic pageant (the first was Ruth Ocumárez in 2001). In the Dominican press, she is known as a Dominican Cinderella, in which her grandmother was a maid and her whole family grew up poor. Ada is the first Dominican to win the Miss World Beach Beauty in the Miss World 2007 pageant. She has participated in international gateways, such as Miami Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Dominicana Moda, among many others.

PRESENTATION - Rating: 9.50
Ada is going to present herself as a smart, bright, outspoken girl. She dramatizes her ideas well and has a bubbly personality. She's a girl of convictions and family values. Pageant experts consider her a "demi-goddess." Adding that her national director Magaly Febles is gonna spruce up her image even more, Ada is expected to impress many spectators.

FACE - Rating: 9.35
Simply beautiful, she's an exotic black girl. My only concern with her is that she tends to force the smile a little bit and it can be somewhat distracting at some points and she kind of lost some of that youthful spark that she had when she participated in Miss World, but overall she is going to be really appealing to most of the judges! In other words: Undeniable!

BODY- Rating: 9.60
Toned, firm, sexy, superb & in topmost condition! She just needs to continue doing what she's doing, then 3 days before the pageant let it all sink in by not doing anything at all. At pageant night, she's going to be just perfect. Expect no lower scores than nines from this girl in the swimsuit competition!

CATWALK SKILLS - Rating: 9.45
Ada is the perfect blend between fierceness and classiness. She can be both edgy and regal. Expect no mercy from her in the evening gown competition. She's gonna stand out from the pack whether it’s in the top ten, fifteen or top five- she’ll definitely stand out!! She's going to let the children have it- plain and simple!

ADA AIMEE'S SCORES:

1. PRESENTATION: ..........................9.50
2. FACE: ...................................…...…9.35
3. BODY: .....................................……9.60
4. CATWALK SKILLS: ......................9.45

NINA RECOMMENDS
I think that anybody who calls himself a beauty pageant expert must have this girl either in the first, second or third position. To me, Ada is officially the girl to beat! She must execute her already terrific catwalk to its maximum aptitude. Magaly should find an exceptional gown for her & the only question would be: “Who is capable of beating her?” I just hope that the situation between Dominican Republic’s national director Magaly Febles and the Miss Universe Organization would not affect Ada’s great chances of winning! But the momentum of Dominican Republic is definitely here. It’s about time for a black Miss Universe! Good Luck, Quisqueyanos!

DAYS GONE BY...
Since the victory of Amelia Vega in 2003, The Dominican Republic has transformed itself into one of the most competitive power-houses of beauty pageants these days. With names like Renata Sone and Marianne Cruz, the Dominican Republic has definitely gained some momentum and this year is not gonna be an exception. Amelia Vega became the first Miss Universe from The Dominican Republic, serving as a platform to other aspiring contestants from her country to make it big in the later years!

She is the director for DR contestants and on an pagent expert's blog they said Magaley was on bad terms with the Miss Universe officials. You think that might of did it?

I doubt it, but feuds certainly never help but might hinder. The DR had everything going for us to win including a helpful location and close turf to the DR, in the Bahamas with sympathetic officials and a pro Dominican crowd. There is a certain amount of politics and commercialism in the Miss Universe pageant, and I am sure that Trump would have preferred the DR over Venezuela, as far as special interests goes, but you can not deny that Venezuela was a very strong contender, much stronger and able than the last Venezuelan Miss Universe.
In life sometimes you are good, but there is someone else with just better luck, if all things are equal.

I guess you're right but I'm still gonna be bitter. And I don't even know why, lol! I really wanted Ada to win and when Venezuela won- my devil horns stood up and smoke started coming out of my ears! Wow "calmate Talia, calmate!"

Well he should know that post is from a previously written article. And if he wants to continue to be like that than the best magic to use is ignoring him. of another author.

I don't think she is very pretty at all. I've seen much prettier Dominican girls than her. Oh well!
