Shouldn't Dominican TV be a little more "advanced," by now?
It seems like a lot of the sets for these Dominican shows are the same ones I used to see years ago in the 80's/early 90's. The production values seem very low-tech still also. Also the variety in the programming leaves a lot to be desired IMO. SuperCanal for instance seems to have these same tired variety shows on all the time.

Or is just because the channels they commonly show include in the cable packages in NYC (Supercanal and Tele-micro) are like this? People that have lived in DR a substantial amount of time, is there more variety and quality in the native television channels?

No they are like those channels back in DR. In fact most of those programs are from regular channel like telesistema, color vision. ECT. I love them especially telemicro-int. They both got good show. The reason I haven’t change to FIOS is because those channel are not available there yet.

Yeah that's the same packet I get, in the BX with cablevision. SuperCanal, TVDom, and Tele Micro. But there isn't much difference between the channels. I mean watching live music is good on the weekends sometimes but it seems so much of the programming is like that. It gets really repetitive. You know the typical Sabado de Corporan type show.

I ordered the packet not too long ago. Mostly because my wife is Colombian and wanted to see the Colombian channels. I thought that Dominican TV had progressed a bit more. The quality is about the same as a public access show here in the states. I think it's actually a little embarrassing Dominicans can't produce better tv at this point, or at least have some more variety. But I'm thinking in my head, it's gotta be better in DR. Honestly I haven't been to DR (outside of a very touristy trip a couple years back to Punta Cana) in about 6-7 years and the times I've been I never watch tv.

you must live on the east coast to get 3 channels. te estan facturano is good for a laugh but they give too many commercials and the same NYC bodega commercials. I am also sick of all of the commecials about:
sex pills,
weight loss pills
pain pills
prostate pills
cash for gold
bug control
send money to DR
Can't they offer anything better for Dominicans?

Actually I like their setting. Most of the shows are live. Telemicro-int got good program at night Hector Reynoso EL BONCHE is pretty good when he want to. TITIRIMUNDATI is good not great as Boca De Piano left the show but this character CIBAO is hilarious. 0 es 3 con MASITA is pretty good but now he is into music. The only show I like from Super canal at night EL PUNTO SOBRE LA i. I like watching Marino going head to head with the lefty commies Octavio and Reyna acting as the mediator. and then marino cursing the people calling with dumb question. Their other shows at nigh are mediocre. Most of the show on telemicro-int now used to be on super canal.
