An Entrepreneur is better well of than an executive of big MNC. I've performed well in banking industry here in India and in IT sales specifically with the Small and medium size business its more of technology consulting and its just initial years of my career. The future definitely holds progress in BRIC but the supporting economies like DR will move along and my experience here in India with some of the lain american companies have motivated me to poke my nose in Hospitality consulting. So in any tourism supported economy my PR skills can be capitalized. I think that you like the island life |

My friend ended up being offered a position that paid in dollars and had several other perks. My friend had reservations about living in DR and he also felt an obligation to help his mom out so he decided against it. I think he was crazy for turning it down considering he was a single guy with relatively few things that tied him down but I digress . OP, if you are serious about working in DR and maybe even becoming an entrepreneur there I would go on a visit first and try to see if it is really for you and to make some contacts. You need the contacts. Edited on 9/18/2009 9:59 AM by Chico81. |

I'm also keeping my options open with big projects like capcana and puntacana resorts. I've acquired PR and Branding skills with I can capitalize on with hospitality Industry also. Its very expensive back in Santo Domingo but if I'm getting in dollars then I can surely manage. |

Do you think so? I believe it's the opposite because the more languages you speak and more diverse background you have, the better off you are at adquiring more clientele for a company in DR. But that's not everything since a lot of these companies are not even owned or ran by Latinos. Also, DR like many other Latin American countries has a brain-drain (a lack of qualified people in many fields). I think he needs to worry more about NOT KNOWING ANYONE IN DR. Without the proper contacts, he's not going anywhere. Edited on 9/19/2009 11:34 AM by Chico81. |

With many major projects and a expanding economy now is an excellent time to establish a business. There is also the chance of 'near-shoring' to the US and Central America. DR is also an attractive location for the whole conference industry. It is clear there is huge potential especially in the computing industry. S. |

I know little bit of spanish as I'm learning from Embassy of Spain. Honestly India is a intelectual talent pool world over, many indian companies are targeting latin america. I already have offers from france but most of these markets are already saturated like hospitality and are surviving on repeat business, big players are investing their fortunes in Caribbean. i believe with my PR and marketings skills i can surely create value at various levels in due course. reciba cordiales saludos de: Rajat Arora |
