price quality ratio of liquor is mostly in the package ===Perceived Value
Goulet, if people start thinking about price, quality, satisfaction or if they were taken for fools, NOBODY would drink an ounce of liquor.."..............historically mankind has proven he will drink anything to get drunk.....the price distinctions and multi labellings are marketing gimmicks to get more money out of the consumers pocket......Alcohol peddlers going back had no distinctions in product and then had the regular and a limited or a reserve and charged more fo it ....the perceived I say perceived value was invented ..." Look you are special I bought you the reserve or the limited because you are worth it " ....this in the 21st century has morphed into red.. black... gold.... blue ....crystal decanter ....baccarat crystal decanter with bells and whistles. The sucker paying ever more and more for a slight variation on rhe same schlock....Do not take offense when I tell you that the most fertile ground for these marketing things is Latin America where it is most important to make these huge statements about " I am what I drink "companies know that especially Latin Americans will pay the price for ostentatious consumption.Because of that will continue to market the newest super duper extra viejo old limited founders reserve Tequila for example which is a huge laugh to any Mexican who has been in the Tequila business for generation but the same applies to all other liquors with few exceptions { which I cant think of at this time } I lived in the town where Duque de Alba and Cadenal Mendoza ,Carlos Primero and Lepanto were made nobody drank that stuff .....it was for selling ................................There is an old joke about sardines. A guy purchases a container-load of sardines for 5 cents a can. He sells them for 10 cents a can to a broker who passes them on to a jobber for 15 cents. The jobber turns a quick profit by flogging them to a wholesaler for 20 cents a can. The wholesaler offers them at 30 cents to a retailer, who puts them on his shelf at 98 cents a can.
A customer buys two cans and returns them both, complaining that the sardines are off. The shopkeeper goes back to the wholesaler and demands his money back. The wholesaler is indignant. "You didn't open them, did you! Those sardines were not for eating. They were for selling."

1- GrandpaTROLL, you need to learn how to quote.

2- Your post is too long and it will take along time for me to read all......but I did read some of it.

3- I do agree with awith what you said about Latin America being the "most fertile gound for these marketing things...."....(by the way, why would I be offended when I am not easily offended.......you should know that about me, by now, Goulet).

4- I know Mexicans, in Mexico who wouldn't touch Tequila even if their lives depended on it........MOST people think ALL Mexican drink it..........NOT SO.

I could care less if you were offended .....why is everything always about you there are more people reading these things than you and many are very sensitive about their identities and cant handle the truth and you are wrong about Tequila ,Mezcal and Pulque they are the peoples drink and have been historically it is the these super expensive reposados that are very new to the market

Oh, sure, there will always be those who will shrill that it is false optimism driven by a chemical reaction in the brain, but so what? As any motivational speaker will tell you, a positive attitude, attained by whatever means, is the first step toward accomplishing anything of value.
