Flight 587: Honoring Our Fallen Brothers & Sisters
The most tradegic aviation accident in U.S. history happens to be one of the most horrific events for our Dominican Community in the USA and around the world. We can never forget the lives lost on this day. Our community suffered a great loss when American Airlines A380 crashed shortly after taking off from JFK. It bafalls me to see the lack of coverage this accident is given by the media, especially when considering its the largest civil aviation accident in U.S. history and it happened just two months after 9/11.

I hope with this thread we can pay hommage to those who parished. Feel free to tell your story. Where were you when this event happened? What was your initial reaction? How has this event impacted or changed your life?

God Bless the Families of American Airlines Flight 587!!!!!

Wow,

As I recall, I was already on lockdown at Fort Dix, NJ with my Unit getting training and ready to be deployed into Afghanistan.

Sadly, my mother had told me that she knew someone from DR who died on that flight as she knew other people in New York who claimed or told her that they knew some people on that flight who perished that day. I personally did not know anyone directly, nonetheless, I was sadden an infuriated given the state of mind I was already in as a Soldier then; uncertain if this was actually a terrorist act or not.

As you can imagine, some of us at my Unit had already assumed it was until we were told that such possibility was ruled out.

Inolvidable de verdad!
