Looking for a recommendation on where I could take a very quiet and very cheap 1 week break in DR. I'm not interested in being near any festivities, alcohol, and the usual tourist nonsense. A really nice view, silence, and a room and shade to read in and eat some ham sandwiches is all I want. If anyone knows a place to stay like that let me know!

Well, Las Terrenas could be what you are looking for. It's quite diverse, but you can easily rent a room for a week in a small hotel, beachfront if you want. You then could relax in the miles and miles of beach. You probably won't find many tourists in the same place.

You can easily rent a 4wheel or bike and buy a little fridge so you can buy the supplies in the supermarket and make your sandwiches right on the beach :-)

In my opinion Las Terrenas is the best quiet place where you still have access to many commercial facilities, restaurants, supermarkets....
