Alright people, posts and forums on this site can get a little heavy(to say the least). We all might get worked up answering back at someone's comment. At times I feel that mutual understanding will never happen between the two of us. But I'm gonna take a turn and tell you what I think about you Dominicans. The honest truth is I like you guys. I have a high admiration of Dominicans but I just don't like when anyone defame my culture(just like anyone else won't). I admire the way you government has developed the DR and wish the Haitians would follow your example. My first crush was on a Dominican girl when I was 12. She had that nice complexion, silky Pocahontas-type hair and since then, I just couldn't get enough of the mami's. I love the way you "guys" speak Spanish like your in a rush(then again the PR do that too). I remember I was at a dealer with my father and his friend and there was a Dominican guy there, he came up to my father and said "ou Haitien...? Mwen Dominikan!! Mem bagay". You guys seem to know what to say when you hear Sak pase!(and you say it fluently). My HR manager always says my name with her sexy Spanish accent..."A-mon-well". I love the way you all say "Bonjour" and for some odd reason pronounce a "D"(not all but some). Dominicans near where I live are also very hospitable. I love the Bachata and Meringue. What I also like is how many of you drive to old school 94 Camry's, you all seem to have the 19 inch rims on it, tinted windows and the little flag hanging. I admire how all you need to have a banging party is a front/backyard, reggaeton and a six pack of Corona. The Dominican women are very special to me...Like I said, my first crush was Dominican and since then I always love them. What tend to see though, is that many of them know they are sexy but don't flaunt this as much(unlike Puerto Ricans). maybe it's just the ones around here(Rockland,NY). These are just some of the reason I admire Dominicans. j'ai vu J'ai participe Je me souvien - 1804 |

Well, what can I say? a party without beer (be it Corona, Presidente or Prestige, although the second one is my favourite "weapon" of choice) is no party at all, in my humble opinion. Listen, Jemesouviens is stepping on faith here to try to mend and better relationship on this forum with mostly US dominicans and US haitians. I doubt that there is 5% of haitians/dominicans from teh mainland typing here. It was a nice gesture, I wish our fellow dominican bethren would open a thread about why they like us although not necessary. I have come to find out that it is in the mind of demented individuals of both national-i-TIES that are cowards and have nothing better to do than talk diatribes rather than to learn from each other. This is a good way for dominicans to learn about haitians and vice versa. The problem lies between both groups that hold grudges and have mis-understanding of two people that share the same island and stuck at the hip trying to run the other way. Jemsouviens I appreciate your courage and extending your hand out to our fellow dominicans but personally I think it is not necessary because dominicans with common sense know that many haitians don't have any hatred towards our neighbours that you look into each family tree without even shaking it too hard that on both sides there are dominicans and hatiains that's going to fall out.. It is as if they had something to prove somehow. As if not waving the flag on the parade would make them any less dominican or haitian. P.S.: Sorry if I offended the expats commenting over here, but sometimes I can't help but ask the question, seeing as how the majority of the firefights between dominicans and haitians on this site have been opened by a radicals expats making some offending remarks. We should really consider escaping from the blame game and the what ifs of the past if we really want our countries to prosper on the long run. Edited on 8/25/2008 3:14 PM by Lautaro.
