RE: Haitian Cannibalism & other anomolies

Lautaro, Said
It doesn't help the fact that the dominican elite is in league with the haitian one in the exploitation of that population, nor the fact that the dominican populace, due to survival and the effects of colonialism, couldn't care less about the fate of its counterpart of the western side.

Arkatype, Said I disagree with you're assertion, dominican elites are not in league or in cahoots with the haitian elite that's one big crock. First is their a sizeable haitian elite the answer is no! Who are these elites? most are not even haitian or don't identify with the plight of the majority of the populace. If you call criminals elite well then i have to agree, most of these so called elites are involved in criminal activities. The ghost goverment in Haiti is inept and really is under the auspice and leadership of the U.N. and the 100s of N.G.O.'s in the country are the ones responsible for the feeding and healthcare of the haitian populace. So no Lautaro you're wrong on this one.

Lautaro, Said
What about the businessmen that are using haitian labour on their construction projects, archie? Are they not part of the elite? While the agreements between the govs for the supply of cheap labour might have ended with the ousting of Baby Doc, it's no less a fact that the contacts between the private parties of both countries have continued. The only thing different being that, instead of only being the people in the army bringing them, you have a corps of private scouts (or buscones) operating on both sides of the fence. Moreover, the private sector hasn't been the only one involved on this traffic business, cuz' if that were to be so, how would you explain the fact of the majority of the workers in the Metro being of haitian extraction? or the ones working on Secretary of Culture's payroll in the reconstruction of some of the historical sites in Santiago?

Arkatype, Said Guy Haiti does not have employment for it's citizens! These people are crossing the border voluntarily not involuntarily, you're myth is a bust!!!!! The reason why haitian illegals are hired is basic economics a cheap labor force that can't demand much if anything. It happens everywhere in the U.S. with mexicans in Europe with eastern europeans. It don't justify their presence in the country im 100% against this practice, it stagnates and it lowers wages instead of creating a more level playing field and incentive for the local populace to have decent employment. That's why their has to be strict control in the border, or were slowly but surely going to be overwhelmed by more poverty and more problems coming from Haiti. If what you're saying is true what percentage in comparison to people that come by their own will, are coming through "Traffic" i bet you anything is a tiny percentile.

ANTONIO,

Believe me, I'm not having a bad day. I try to absorb as much as I can on/about Haiti and DR while in exile (LOL). It's just disheartening to see all the vile, callous, counterproductive sh*t going on.

I ask myself, where have you been that you were not privy to this rivalry and hatred. This is an Island that I love and can't imagine all those smiling faces, good people being eternal and mortal enemies.

I know that there are haters on both sides and barring someone defending insults hurled at our countrymen, I don't see where the Haitians who start sh*t are coming from? It's like talking mess in a restaurant with the person who's about to bring you your food? Not in your best interest.

We can have strong debates and totally disagree, but when you put down people, it erodes the human spirit because what you're saying is it's OK to put you , your family and people that you love down.

Unacceptable in my book. I feel negativity and resentment building up in my heart and I don't like it.
I have Dominican cousins, ex-girlfriends, fraternity brothers and a whole extended family ( I call them family) in NYC.

Can't live like a hypocrite and negativity on these boards spread like cancer. I choose to cure myself.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. You never know.

...And one last thing, a lot of people really don't know what the fk they are talking about on here They don't know that Dominican and Haitian wealthy do business together. Caribe tours, Helados bon, trucking, construction, hotels. They know exactly what they are doing and it works. At the end of the day, it's money baby! They don't carry their flags in their hearts. They give less than a fk about Toussaint and Duarte.

It's funny that the more patriotic people have less say so in their countries. You got to love IMPERIALISM.

Arkatype, Said What tourist boom? what construction boom? what infrastructure boom? what boom is occuring in Haiti that people are not aware of tell us????? Kmnupe. Can you share any progression going on in Haiti!!!!! The last time i checked the U.N. or MINUSTAH as their known occupy Haiti. Why? because if not, the political gangs are going to kill anyone in sight as long as he or she is an authority boom they're gone. The dominican elites don't share an interest in Haiti, the only interest they have is exploiting haitians and you celebrate that because you're people suffer from a disease called defeat and dumbness, if anything you people belong in the jungles of Africa maybe some country can enlist haitians to do what they do best destroy, destroy, destroy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8OvnvuQcRA

The idiot arkatype think he can explain issues by posting negative picture about Haiti or the world for that matter, when in fact he should learn to express himself, in order to bring his point forth.

Listen we went over that theme over and over gain, for each youtube picture you post about Haiti, I can post one as being negative about DR, would this be a valid reflection about DR in General ? no, therefore picking up a single act made by individual to make your point is dishonest.

When I started in this forum I was and still a ardent supporter of the Haitian cause, over time I had the opportunity of reading posters like Lat,Cibi, Dread, Jabao, knmupe ect... sorry if I miss any, this in fact have help me shape a more rounded balance point of view.

In your case you are a very confuse human being, that associate black with barbarism, negativity
when your own uncle is black, while conveniently ignoring the atrocities commited by the conquistador. I wonder how do you see yourself in the mirror, you are a typical victim of Rafael Trujilloism stuck in the 1930's and unable to move forward in the age of globalization. Haitian have never denied they are poor and pride however by trying to strike people down with the last human dignity they have left is remarkable on your part.

My conclusion you need to educate yourself more, and keep an open mind, history have thaught us countries have went from being the richest to the poorest and vice versa.

Arkatype, Said You haitians talk so much trash it aint even funny, the first thing that you spew is Trujillo, you don't even know who Trujillo was the only thing you know about Trujillo is the 1937 massacre of haitians, haitians since day one have always illegaly encroached on the border. That's one of the reasons they were killed, because as usual you're people act and do things without civility and order. But you forget that Rafael Leonidas Trujillo developed and modernized the country something none of Haiti's dictators ever did for there country. Antonioj this is not sesame street, if you can't handle the truth, well im sure you know the saying..... Nobody is claiming that D.R. is a perfect country it has many problems, that's the reason why illegal immigration is a big problem. The haitians that cross the border are poor and only depress wages and strain resources in the country, theirs an estimated 2 million haitians in the country that includes their children. It's not vice versa is only a one way street, dominicans are not flooding Haiti for obvious reasons. Haiti is extremely poor and less developed and has a higher birthrate, the population in Haiti increases at an alarming rate yet the people don't have work and can't feed themselves, now tell me does that make any sense? i would say no! Haiti's problems is not ours to solve, deforestation lack of water lack of infrastructure are threats to our social and economic growth that will stall any progress made. That means that the dominican goverment has to prioritize enforcement in the border, and the military should be active all along the border protecting our patrimony which are our limited resources our land and everything that compromises our sovereignty. I know that this president is a weakling and although there's been somethings he's done right like the building of needed infrastructure, although he's been a failure in investing on education and in other important sectors, i don't expect a miracle from this president there's too many things that are needed and not enough resources but at the end of the day we are doing better than Haiti.
