That's one of the reasons they were killed, because as usual you're people act and do things without civility and order. But you forget that Rafael Leonidas Trujillo developed and modernized the country something none of Haiti's dictators ever did for there country. Antonioj this is not sesame street, if you can't handle the truth, well im sure you know the saying..... Nobody is claiming that D.R. is a perfect country it has many problems, that's the reason why illegal immigration is a big problem. The haitians that cross the border are poor and only depress wages and strain resources in the country, theirs an estimated 2 million haitians in the country that includes their children. It's not vice versa is only a one way street, dominicans are not flooding Haiti for obvious reasons. Haiti is extremely poor and less developed and has a higher birthrate, the population in Haiti increases at an alarming rate yet the people don't have work and can't feed themselves, now tell me does that make any sense? i would say no! Haiti's problems is not ours to solve, deforestation lack of water lack of infrastructure are threats to our social and economic growth that will stall any progress made. That means that the dominican goverment has to prioritize enforcement in the border, and the military should be active all along the border protecting our patrimony which are our limited resources our land and everything that compromises our sovereignty. I know that this president is a weakling and although there's been somethings he's done right like the building of needed infrastructure, although he's been a failure in investing on education and in other important sectors, i don't expect a miracle from this president there's too many things that are needed and not enough resources but at the end of the day we are doing better than Haiti. Haitianation, Said You Dominicans talk so much trash it aint even funny, the first thing that you spew is Dessalines, you don't even know who Dessalines was the only thing you know about Dessalines is the 1805 massacre of Dominicans, Dominicans since day one have always illegaly encroached on the border and they were always open to letting the Europeans back on the land. the same Europeans that wants to enslave us. That's one of the reasons they were killed, because as usual you're people act and do things without civility and order. But you forget that Dessalines and finished the revolution war which ended slavery to the island and thus Haiti was free and was capable of sending soldiers to Free the rest of Latin America if Dessalines had failed Latin America and the rest of the Carribean would probably still be slaves today and we wouldn;t have Martin Lutther King and we wouldn;t have an Obama something none of Dominicans dictators ever did for there country nor the world. Arkatype this is not sesame street, if you can't handle the truth, well im sure you know the saying..... Nobody is claiming that Haiti. is a perfect country it has many problems, that's the reason why illegal immigration is a big problem. ANYWAY YOU GET MY POINT....Anything negative you can say about Haiti I can easily switch it up on you fool....GIVE YOU ARKY JUST GIVE UP YOU:LL LIVE LONGER Arkatype, Said Im not going to argue history with you, because naturally you have a distorted view of reality. It's one of the many syndromes haitians suffer from "DENIAL." Now the question about slavery let's roll the tape. Either you suffer from extreme denial since you are part of the so call spain legacy or have difficulty grasping the english language We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope. |

Some 5,000 Dominican and Brazilian women work as prostitutes in Suriname, where both are ill-treated and exploited, according to the results of an investigation presented Thursday in this capital. According to a report by Spanish news agency EFE, Dominican and Brazilian women represent virtually 100 percent of the sex workers in Suriname, a country of some 223,000 inhabitants. The "Trinational Investigation into the Treatment and Trafficking of Women" and COIN research institute revealed that between 3,000 and 4,000 Dominican women are forced to engage in prostitution in Suriname in largely clandestine transactions in which they are maltreated, raped and sometimes even disappear for good. The researchers found that prostitutes from Brazil "suffer the constant violation of their human rights." Marcel Hazeu, a representative of the Brazilian organization Sodireitos, which participated in the study, said that although her countrywomen have in common with the Dominicans the need to escape from poverty and support their families, "the Dominicans have a greater awareness of the exploitation to which they are subjected." "The Brazilians don't organize themselves to resist, but the Dominicans realize that they are exploited and subjected to violence, although they don't have a community or a consulate" in Suriname, she added. There does exist a Brazilian consulate in the small country. Hazeu said that "the big lie of the (sex) traders (i.e. pimps) is to feed in Dominican and Brazilian women great expectations, which they never fulfill," since ?she said? "economic earnings are scarce" for both. The great illusion of the prostitutes is, she added, that they may be able to marry a rich Surinamese man, "it doesn't matter if he's a drug trafficker, a politician or a man with four wives living in different houses which he throws out when he gets tired of them." COIN said in the study that the Dominicans usually work in clandestine locations, "much more hidden and dangerous than the Brazilians," and it added that some Dominicans have disappeared in Suriname but those cases have not been investigated by the authorities. The heads of COIN, Santo Rosario and Francisca Ferreiras, asked the governments of the Dominican Republic, Brazil and Suriname to establish policies and programs to protect the rights of the women who are victims of the sex trade. Rosario said that some women gravitate to prostitution because of poverty and the inequality of the sexes and she complained that the immigration laws, approved to combat the crime of people selling and trafficking, "make the problem clandestine and invisible and make it so that the women suffer more." This reality, Rosario said, "demands the establishment of policies of labor integration and the authorization of microloans so that poor women can find work in conditions of equality in their society of origin." Rosario also said that Suriname is a transit and destination country for the sex trade due to the economic flows generated by its mines and casinos and because some women can cross the border to French Guiana or emigrate to France, Martinique or Guadeloupe. According to data compiled by local organizations, more than 200,000 Dominican women work as prostitutes outside their homeland. Edited on 12/19/2008 10:50 PM by Dominicanation. |

Arkatype, Said I don't care if you have dominican friends, im looking at the big picture something haitians are to dumb and blind to see. And you're record is ugly on all fronts as a people, you're country Haiti is a total disaster and i don't want that for D.R. If you literally f****d up you're own country imagine what you will do to ours. The international community has lost confidence in Haiti, that's why you're reality is the U.N. occupying your failed state of a nation. Another thing for every negative action that happens in D.R. you're country is 100 times worst. So what is it that i wish for total militarization of the border, erect a wall on the border deport 95% of all haitians, legalize the rest that can contribute in a positive way to the country and it's tax base. No more no less. You are the light of truth ARKATYPE |
