Wait and revisit in a year after opening , after people have been riding with their goats and chickens. Does anyone know if there are any restrooms in the stations? I don't think so, I don't think they use restrooms in NYC Subway either, I think is better to keep this facilities free of places where commun delincuents and street beggers can go and hide or cause damage. IMHO. |

HonestAbe, you have informed us that the PR underground requires 100 million dollars a year to run. it is very similar in extent to the DR metro. in your opinion, do you believe it will cost a lot less to run the DR metro, given the difference in electricity costs? |

As far as I know it will have its own energy system, people think subways use regular electricity when it is a very diferent kind of power that requires a special kind of generators. I have a picture of the powerplant that consist of a batery of 12 diesel generators. Don't get me wrong, I am worried about the power too, and I was one of the many who think there was a greater need to solve the electric power first, but, the metro is here and the cost has being too high for the DR, I hope with all my hart it works for the good of the people who are going to use it, they really need to solve the transportation problem in SD guys, I was one of those people who had to fight his way into a CONCHO, tme subway will provide a safe, fast, humanized mean of transportation for this people. I am sure the cost of operation will be significantly lower than PR's, remember that in PR the payroll cost is many times higher than the DR, PR's system cost 2.5 billion dollars when DR's was under a billion. |

After doing a little research, most subways are using DC power as opposed to AC power which is used in homes and businesses. That would explain the seperate power supply.
