You decided to interview one person, from one small campo in DR, generalize, and then call it a day. I think you owe us an apology. The bad rep. DR has gotten regarding race has not come since Trujillo's time, since everyone knows that his massacre was something very personal, it has come since the "NGO's" that claim to be defending Haitian immigrants in DR started disseminating this propaganda. They are very aware that their agenda is malicious and can do nothing else but play the race card. They have to lump all dark Dominicans into their bullshit "cause" because otherwise it be too obvious that they are trying to force DR to carry a burden that doesn't belong to them. Gizmo Thank you somebody smart "about time." Let's keep our focus on the real threat Haitian invaders. Edited on 2/25/2009 9:33 AM by Gizmo. READ A BOOK FOR REAL! This is not Everywhereinthefaceoftheearth.com, this is DominicanToday.com where anything Dominican goes. I stand by what I say and see/witness, when it comes to their own people, many Dominicans are as racist as they come. Let's get something straight, I am not only talking about "the rich", I am also talking about "the white" and even some blacks and ligh-skinned Dominicans. DominicanChic, you will get your "apology' after Obama is done with his speech. Edited on 2/24/2009 10:58 PM by TuPapaupa. Well I would have to disagree with you in defense Tupapaupa statements, Dominicanchick I would say you are wrong. Dominicans are notorious for being hypocrites we are just a little more discreet than we would like to admit (I'll get back to this later). I have family on all-sides of the color spectrum I will just say for the sake of this discussion one half side of paternal grandparents is black, black right out of the tree. And the other side of my maternal is white. My memory serves me very well of the time I heard family snickering (from maternal side) comments about avoiding marrying anyone black and avoid ruining the blood line further (dañando la sangre). It is a reality that too many Dominicans wish to avoid or deny that it exist. It is a reality that many will turn a blind eye and hope will evaporate into thin air as if never existed. Dominicanchick , I believe the big problems is that we Dominicans dont like the UGLY truth. We prefer to paint Dominican Republic as this beautiful paradise where rivers are plenty with pristine waters etc etc etc. Where Dominicans love one another as he loves himself etc etc etc. Haitians are only one part of the equation. Dominicans are the other half and it is because our failure to see clearly our side of the equation that we can't construct this formula to solve our problems. The truth is UGLY. No the truth FUGLY and will always be until we begin to address these issues intelligently, realistically and with civility we will be forever doomed to continue living in poverty, ineptitude and corruption. So, you don't like what's happening in DR.... |

Gizmo Dreadlocks has any multi-racial country in the world ever solved the problem of racism? The answer is no! So please stop singlying the D.R., If we were to compare the experiences of racism from the past to present with other country's we will be at the low end of the spectrum. Yes racism exist and it's hypocritical to say that it doesn't, but the problem is minimal in comparison to other nations. READ A BOOK FOR REAL! BECOME A BOOKWORM MISTER BEFORE YOU GET SERVED!!!!! |
