The PLD is a progressive party and they are part of the Progressive Bloc, but on the economy he's conservative. Many former PRD members support him. Even Johnny Ventura and Pena Gomez' son. I think it's confusing. Why do some in the PRD and some of the other social democratic parties support LF and the PLD even though he's in favor of the private sector and capitalism? There is more to both left and liberal than being against markets and capitalism. Does wisdom perhaps appear on the earth as a raven inspired by the smell of carrion? I'd like to know what is the philosophical and ideological difference between PLD and PRD? For example: which of the parties is closer in its ideology to the Democrats in the US or to the Republicans in the US? What about their attutude towards gay-related issues, such as same-sex marriage, equal rights for gays, etc? Edited on 5/3/2008 1:43 PM by Tatarstan. |
