I remember that they would open the luggage and search. Do they still open all of your bags at POP? Or have they upgraded and have the scanners like Santiago (STI) airport? |

Most of the times they do random checks. Also, they do have the X-ray scanners. POP is a decent small airport. I wouldn't exactly call it a dump... it's just not a major hub so you're not gonna have all the facilities one would have access to at a mjor airport. Edited on 11/2/2009 2:46 PM by ethio_rican. |

It was under serious construction so that made it even more traumatic. The AC wasn't working so it was really hot in there. They had a huge mixup with the two flights that had arrived, one charter from Europe and one from NYC. Needless to say the lines were super long and confusing. There was an elderly man whose carryon bag opened anb his HIV medicine bottles were scattered all over the floor. My luggage never made it and neither did this American couple who had 2 kids with them. It took the staff over an hour to even acknowledge our repeated request for info about our luggage. There were about 6 really scummy looking "agents" walking around us like vultures. The next morning my luggage did arrive at my house in Santiago with all the contents intact. I've never been a fan of POP and never will be. The road is in very bad shape so be careful driving out of there. |

I am only flying POP because I got a way better price for December on the incoming flight and my connection time was less than flying in via STI. I will leave via STI though scummy looking agents |
