Santo Domingo.– Writer and journalist Francisco Comarazamy Rangasami, one of the most important commentators of Dominican literature, celebrates his 100th birthday today amid the joy of his relatives, friends and a country deeply proud of his work and legacy.

Born in San Pedro de Macorís on October 4, 1908, Comarazamy has worked for several newspapers: La Opinión, Diario de Macorís, El Mundo, La Nación and El Caribe. He became the director of Listín Diario, where he´s been writing, for the past couple of decades, the column “Dominican Books,” considered one of the oldest columns in the history of Dominican journalism.

He has received the Golden Canoabo Award, the Order of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella Award, the Bright Star of China Award and the Order of Merit from Korea. In 2007 the Corripio Prize for Journalism went to his hands to recognize his more than 60 years as a journalist.

He is the author of Experiences of a Journalist, Commentaries on Dominican Books, More Commentaries on Dominican Books, and San Pedro de Macorís. Memories.

At 100 years of age and lucid in his analysis, Don Frank Comarazamy doesn´t want to quit offering his vivid reviews on Dominican literature.
