Vienna.- First lady Margarita Cedeño yesterday presented to the Nations United in Vienna, the Government’s measures against people-trafficking and the challenges that international community must face to fight the problem.
She said since no country is safe from becoming the origin, transit or destination of people-trafficking with and fight requires of the joint operation and decided of the international community.
Cedeño, in her speech before the United Nations-sponsored anti-trafficking forum which began yesterday and concludes tomorrow, said the Government is committed to fight that crime, especially when it involves women and children, with sentences of up to 20 years in prison.
Antonio Maria Costa, head of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, said the Vienna meeting was a "rally" of all those committed to fight a "crime that shames us all."

Slave traders and human traffickers should get a little more than 20 years in prison.
They should get a tight rope around their necks. Many of the top and richest families of the DR, deeply involved in trafficking, would be wiped out by the ropes.
Evidently, it's easier to censor the brilliant filmmakers of "The Price of Sugar" about forced labor in the DR and deny the film its well-deserved Oscar, this year, than to silence Margarita Cedeño about this tragedy.
It's often not enough to wish for justice, one must occasionally stand up for it, if it isn't asking too much.
Cedeño may be the only prominent Caribbean personality, other than revolutionaries, who addresses this tragedy.
Most people know that the local, US, and Cuban-exile bourgeoisie profit most from human trafficking and the timid always shun annoying rich people.
She should invest the money were her preocupations are ???
"In the Head", Her monthly 1 Million dollars will help to fight "DR's-Naval Human Trafficking business"
We can't put an exact price on the value of the moral authority that she imparts to the question.
For the most part, we are not dealing with random punks either with drug or human trafficking.
Make no mistake about it, this is organized crime and highly organized criime.
The First Lady, in good taste and decorum, can go only so far in a struggle against organized crime which always corrupt political officials and which has some of its leaders in the economic elite of the country.
In the USA, law enforcement "task forces" and prosecutorial "task forces" have had some success against organized crime. Look at what's left of the Gambino, the Outfit, Bonanno, Genovese, Trafficante, and Colombo organizations.
Remember, slave traders are more homicidal than drug dealers because the traders have to "unload" large cargoes of slaves or illegal immigrants when the cops discover their operations.
