SANTO DOMINGO.- The president of the National Business Council (Conep) yesterday said he’s against the calls of strikes because in his view they have a negative effect on the economy, foreign investment and the family.
Lisandro Macarrulla said the strikes also have an emotional effect on the people, who aspire to live peacefully. He said people are concerned with the continuous walkouts because there is a level of social tension generated by all those movements.
He said the business sector also awaits lowers tension on the electoral campaign, so the country can have a civilized polling exercise.
Macarrulla said negative expectations shouldn’t be created because they bring about tensions, converting simple things into traumas for Dominican society.

I always liked Robert Goulet. I enjoy your comments as well. But try living here and see how ridiculous many of the things of which you speak are in "real life". It is even worse than from your position on stage, singing about this Country. Keep writing.

Who does this clown Macarulla think he is? It should be the right of workers everywhere to organize and strike if they feel working conditions and/or pay are unsatisfactory. What Macarulla wants is for the workers in DR to remain docile for the benefit of his constituents.

when i read rubbish like that, it makes me wonder if these guys think before they speak, or just gratuitously run off at the mouth. if workers did not have the power to disrupt the run of things, they would not have a voice in how things are done. management could keep them in a virtual state of serfdom. it is precisely because of the threat of strikes that businesses listen to workers' demands for fair treatment.

As for "negative effect on the economy," if the strikes increase the wages of workers, then the strikes increase the demand for goods and services. The rise in demand stimulates production, job growth, and profits. Thus, the effect on the economy is positive.
As for "foreign investment," it is impossible for compador trash to favor domestic workers over foreign looters. Thus, the effect on the foreign looters may be negative, but this may have a positive effect on the economy.
As for "the family," the families of the strikers benefit as much as the strikers, but the compador trash is only concerned about the families of foreign investors, especially the families of the slimy imperialists. Indeed, the stupid compador believes he is a member of the foreigner family.

how come they don't wait untill after the election to go on strike. let me tell you guys something yesterday i was having some beers with four doctors and one doctor out of the four doctors was in favor of the strike but the other three were againsted because the doctors socialized them self with. juan hubiere instead going alone with the teachers and the nurses of the country. I am in favor of the doctor demands but they need to be real. they want a pay rate increase from rd$23.000 to rd$58.000 get real guys where is all that money going to come from. and why aren't the doctors fighting for the ones who needed. they only care about themself and not about the patients health or well being.

Bernies, that money can be realised if some of the political drones had their six figure salaries reduced. you must concede that ,at least theoretically, doctors are more valuable to society than high priced botellas.

oooo
The strikers practice at public hospitals. Did your four beer-drinking doctors practice at public hospitals?
So, you say, strikers "socialize themselves" if they make more money. If this is what the three doctors believe, then they drink too much. They're drunks.
And, if that's how you socialize people, then the capitalists are Communists because capitalists get the most money.

"People are concerned with the continuous walkouts because there is a level of social tension generated by all those movements," National Business Council Lisandro Macarrulla, the bourgeois flunky and toilet-paper holder for the rich, said.
oooo
Low wages also generate tensions, but this bourgeois flunky isn't againts low wages.
Rather this toilet-paper holder of the rich wants low wages cut further, notwithstanding the increased generation of tension for the people.
This flunky, groveling before the capitalist, pretends that his views and those of the National Business Council over which he presides are the views of the "people" who most likely hold this capitalsit running dog in total contempt that he deserves. Or perhaps the flunky believes that members of his National Business Council are the only "people" who count and therefore their tensions are the only ones that should be relieved.
He really means that good wages make big business tense.

"The comprador bourgeoisie are non-capitalist bourgeoisie who owe their existence to imperialist capitalists but cannot function on their own as a capitalist class. In Marxist terms, comprador bourgeoisie exist in developing countries and act in their own economic interests, often sacrificing national interests and the interests of their country's proletariat in order to do so. The concept of "comprador bourgeoisie" generally ties in with Marxism."
http://www.numsa.org.za/article.php?cat=&id=1167Mostly likely, the mass of the Dominican bourgeoisie is just comprador, but a minority segment is authentically capitalist.
The term of choice for the imperialists on which the compradors depend is "foreign investors."
