Santo Domingo.- Friday’s presidential elections will have around 200 international observers including the diplomats in the country, a Organization of American States (OAS) delegation and the heads of at least 12 elections agencies from various nations.

The international observers will work together with Dominicans from various organizations in the elections process.

In small groups, observers visited polling stations and Municipal Electoral Boards in several communities around the country, noting the organization of the pre-election process.

Yesterday the Central Electoral Board officially welcomed the group of foreign observers.

"We know that their work is serious, honest, dedicated. This work is to accompany the Dominican people as guests observers on this day," said JCE president Julio Cesar Castaños.
