Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez met Thursday with representatives of Dominican Republic’s 105,000 member-strong Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons), in their temple located on Bolivar avenue in this city.
For his part, second advisor of the Mormon Presidency of the congregation’s Caribbean region, elder Miguel Alfredo Lee, urged the government to promote measures aimed at bolstering family values and to uphold them as society’s fundamental base.
During the activity -the first time a sitting Dominican President meets with Mormon Church leaders- Fernandez spoke with a group of missionaries who transmit the gospel to the citizens.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has 800 missionaries in the country.
