Radhames Ramirez supervises the burn.
SANTO DOMINGO.- Dominican Republic’s drug czar said Thursday that drug trafficking cases "bigger than Quirino’s" will be disclosed as early as next week, and which also involve military chiefs, politicians and civilians linked to the government.
National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) director Radhamés Ramirez was referring to Quirino Paulino, arrested in December, 2004, who is currently awaiting trial in the U.S. on charges of trafficking 1,380 kilos of cocaine.
He said Paulino’s cocaine trafficking case will seem “very small for to the fat fish the DNCD pursues and prepares to dismantle," although declined to disclose details as to suspects or their places in society to prevent hindering the investigations.
The military official said since Paulino’s alleged network was dismantled, numerous cases with the same magnitude but with different names have been taken to court
Ramirez spoke prior to the incineration of two tons of cocaine, 23 kilos of heroin, and 10 of opium, placed on metal platforms in the Army’s 1st Infantry Brigade, Pedro Brand township.

For every head they catch another 10 are born. The War on Drugs is a waste of trillions of dollars that could be used for treatment for addicts instead. Humans will always seek euphoria-inducing substances...legally or illegally!!
Since drugs are illegal and very profitable it creates gang turf wars and more crime on the streets. The more they spend on fighting it the more drugs we see!

No LOL. When I was younger I smoked weed a few times and one time I tried crack, but I never got hooked. I'm not condoning the abuse of drugs. I think it's a big problem, but I don't think that we will ever win the war and it only creates more violence because drug dealers shoot and kill each other. I also believe that we have way too many non-violent offenders in jails and prisons and that's why there's so much overcrowding.

First thing I think when I read the story is that this guy just tipped off the "Fat Fish" that there is an ongoing investigation. This will certaunly allow them time to try and hide their assets and perhaps flee the country.
Not to bright or was it his way of letting his buddies know?

The Paulino case were 1,380 kilos of cocaine were captured was HUGE. Anything close to that will make an immediate impact. The difference is that the drugs were captured along with Paulino and in this instance the infrastructure will take a hit. It is not easy to acquire and establish the infrastructure and government connections as one may think. Its like putting together an organization of trusted employees. If the DNCD can infiltrated the organization it will help further.

I don't see the why the politicians have to make points by announcing future arrests, giving these guys the shsnce to hide their loot, transfer property and make a getaway. Having the door kicked in on their expensive homes would make the feel like the crimminals they are.

Thanks..for the tip Mr. Czar.
What a scam this is. If you are about to arrest the big Fish or Fishes, you don't go the media and make a annoncement. Catch them first then have your 15 mins. of fame, and your media day.
I bet the people they are going to arrest are the ones who don't make enough drug money to bribe an official.
What a scam......these leaders all have to go back to the police & military academy and get reprogramed or demolish both academies, and rebuild from scratch.
