Santo Domingo.- Dominican Customs and the Public Health Ministry’s Drugs and Pharmacies Agency seized RD$8.7 million worth of medicines smuggled through Santiago’s Cibao Airport.

Among the drugs seized are 42,000 Acromona Ovul of 500 mg; 65,400 tablets of Dolo Neurobión and 119,000 of Serial.

It also contains Flanax of 550 gm, 5,000 units; Ibenol Folic, 8,640 units, and childrens’ Cataflan of 12.5mg, 1, 350 units. Also included Aldomet of 250mg, 7,560 units; Indocid Sup. dee 100 mg, 1, 788 units; Tramal 100 mg, 1, 495 units; Valerpan mp. 2,050 units.

Customs director Miguel Cocco ordered an investigation into the contraband, which arrived in 15 boxes aboard a Delta Cargo flight.

if they are legitimate drugs they should be put into circulation at charity clinics as soon as possible ...if confiscated...and not held until the dates are past that they can be used

Well, the Dominican Drug Cartel is still under the spotlight for producing PATENTED DRUGS and producing them as GENERIC in this country.
Somebody is trying to get away without paying the exorbitant TAXES due.

Can Customs pls name the importer? Can customs pls distribute these expensive drugs at no cost to low / no income families b4 the expiration date of said medicine?

Now why on earth would they do something like that ? I am sure they can re-sell them for a handsome profit and pocket the proceeds , I am also sure we will never read of the ultimate out come or resolution of this matter. Surely you all realize this, but we are supposed to be surprised ?
