My only thoughts about this matter is that it's a shame that, due to the incompetence of our governments for creating opportunities in our countries, we latin americans have to suffer seeing our youth die in other people's wars. I'm tired of seeing our people be used as cannon fodder just for the sake of fulfilling the ambitions of a group of profit-driven fools.

Am I to shut up just for telling the truth? Sorry GC, but reason is on my side on this case. The only reason that this meaningless war have dragged on as long as it had is the unwillingness of the american oligarchy to find another alternatives to their profiterring on oil and to renounce their irrational imperial designs as for the rest of world. Are you foolish enough not to recognize the role that the people of the Project for the New American Century and other oligarchic lobby groups have played in the continuance of this madness?

The US military is getting desperate .. recruitment has been steadily dropping .. the troops are staying longer in the field .. it is now harder to find Causasians to replace those killed and wounded in combat .. even economically depressed states like Ohio and Kentucky are having a harder time in recruiting young, unemployed Caucasians to replenish the ranks .. the military is even lowering background requirements .. more and more recruits with felony convictions are being offered waivers .. older recruits are being accepted .. US citizenship is no longer required for service .. so there has been heavy recruiting from the foreign born segments of the population .. Mexicans .. Dominicans .. Guatemalans .. Hondurans .. the list goes on .. if this trend continues we will be seeing disproportionately higher casualties from those groups .. mostly people of color .. the ones that are currently facing extreme racial discrimnation .. immigration discrimination .. Sorry, mr. anthonyC, but I have nothing to thank you for. On the contrary, I should curse you all for thwarting the chances of my country gaining a REAL democratic regime with your blasted meddling into our affairs on April 1965. As mr. sang told some of your friends, why don't you take your "democratic ideals" and send them in reverse gear up your alimentary canal? Get Out Of Iraq Now
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Forum Members,
I am not sure if this came to him in a dream .. or whether he has been watching too much TV .. but this is the BEST DECISION that Hipolito Mejia has ever made in his ENTIRE PRESIDENCY ..
Firstly, there is no reason for Dominican troops to be fighting against "enemies" that have never targeted the DR .. Iraq was never your enemy .. they NEVER demonstrated HOSTILE INTENT or attacked the DR .. DR TROOPS are in IRAQ because Mejia is trying to get favors from BUSH in Mejia's RE-ELECTION campaign .

Secondly, there is no reason for Dominican troops to be fighting in a BUSH FAMILY vendetta .. his father screwed up in the Gulf War #1 .. so the SON tries to fix the problem in Gulf War #2 .. that is totally Sicilian and does not makes sense for the DR .. war should not be a MAFIA VENDETTA ..
Thirdly, there is no reason for the DR to become an instrument of the INSANE US POLICY IN THE MIDDLE EAST ..

Freedom of Speech is guaranteed under the US Constitution .. regardless of who dies .. but that knowledge is available to fewer and fewer people today .. because fewer and fewer are reading important stuff .. all they do all day is sit around .. drink beer .. and watch re-runs of "Leave It To Beaver" .. what a shame that these guys had to die over a serious intelligence error .. Dominican Today has the range 209.200.64.0 - 209.200.127.255 and their server is located in Phoenix .. that's a lot of sub-nets to cover between those two nodes .. now since we know that a packet travelling between those two nodes could take a very large number of pathways .. your TRACERT packet sniffer would have to follow each and every packet a number of times to derive a matrix of maximum likelihood paths .. it would then have to derive a set of partial differential equations to describe this horrendously large matrix .. and solve it using finite element analysis .. this is the type of stuff that is only available to intelligence agencies .. so how the heck did you get your hands on it? you work for Uncle Sam?

The real issue here is that the the wire tapping bill has given the telcos immunity from being sued.
People use proxy servers that claim you can surf anonymously but they are mostly illegal.
I wouldn't wish any harm on anyone or could care less where they live just for speaking his/her mind but if SangWong doesn't cool down a bit then the site owner could have him blocked permanently .

Jander, Codetel changes IP's constantly. In fact, even if you have DSL (Flash), turn your router off and on and you probably will get a new different IP once it reconnects. There are many ways to tag a computer and identify it. If the problem escalates, the only thing DT.com has to do is print the posts, usernames, dates and IP addresses, and report it as abuse to Codetel. A couple of days later they'll shut down their internet and probably any related service. This, although you may think is outrageous, has been done many times by ISP's, both in DR and internationally.
There is a very strong law in the DR against Cyber-abuse, and when you have enough data, the law works if you know how to use it.

The problem with people living on this side of the sun is that -- they sleep, eat , and love to have the right to curse anyone they feel like. A whole country and its society was destroyed and no one sees that, a whole nation existing under uncertainties where death is everywhere. A nation under occupation. Just tell yourself if your country were to be occupied by some other country, how will you feel. What will be the words that you used, if your brother, sister, mother, father and so on wrere killed or suffering cause of it -- then you read some headlines calling then " HERO' s ". Placing the so called -- Fighting for Freedom and the American Way of Life. Some people are much mistaken about what is really taking place in the world of politics -- The U.S. is ruling the world one way or another, and it used all sorts of methods. Lyndon Johnson " My Latinos only understand two things, a dollar in they pockets or a kick in the butt".
Mr. AnthonyC said
"Next time the Sh*t hits the fan in your Country please don't bother asking for help". The fact is that no one asked for help. The U.S. put Trujillo in power and when he stopped doing business w/ them (paid the national dept) the CIA trained and financed a group of good samaritan to do their dirty work and if you look carefully, the history of how Saddam and Trujillo came to power and brought down are very similar, which i dont think of it as pure coinsidence. Ohh,and lets not forget Mr. John McCain senior " perhaps people dont like the strong when they are taught to behave". Hmm,the good ol' "Good Neighbor Policy" at work. And no, no one puts a gun to their heads to tell 'em who they have to vote for, but c'mon man, do you actually think that Americans get to pick who they really want in office?

khaoss. thank you very much for your posting. i have one question for all these numbskulls who talk about " democracy" what did you, or anyone you know, have to do with Obama or McCain being chosen as presidential candidates? the fact that you get to vote for one of them does not make the process that much more democratic than if you could not vote. because you have no choice, except to vote for one of the guys that the powers that be present for you. with the exception of three senators, the entire senate is made up of multimillionaires. their kids do not go to war. they get into schools with SAT scores that would be laughed at if they were submitted by regular people. they are set up in office by the wealthy, the industrialists, the major corporations, to protect their interests. they do the bidding of lobbysists, a polite term for bagmen. so be careful when you speak about "democracy" . not because you live in a society which has 196 different brands of laundry detergent

Goulet, it is high time you go to the library and borrow their dictionary ( you have heard of dictionaries, or seen one on TV, i presume) . to keep using threadbare terms such as Wanker every opportunity you get highlights your intellectual shortcomings in even more stark relief.

dreadlocks,
Your lack of knowledge of the US political system is amusing.
First off the US is not a democracy. it is a Representative Republic.
2nd: thing there were dozens of poeple running for office of President. They were weeded out by the political process of each of the respective parties. The Parties are a private institution. And each have their own from of picking their canidate.
3rd: So what if our senators are wealthy. In fact I would prefer that. That means they are successful and intelligent.

anthonyc, the more i read your postings the more i realise what an imbecile you really are., at first i thought that you were just weak minded: now i realise you are beyond that, to the point of being cretinous. if you see a causal relatinship between being wealthy and being intelligent, then you are not someone with whom i intend to converse.i do not need a primer from you in political science, thank you. i spent 3 years studying the matter at university. and when you say the United States is not a democracy, what exactly do you understand by the term? when you have scurried off to Wikipedia for the definition, you can pick this thread up again. i really find it pointless arguing with the unprepared.

furthermore, anthonyc, why don't we just elect people who are wealthy? then we can have a political directorate consisting of professional athletes, rap artists, lottery winners, and the like...you know: your idea of intelligent people!

I'd chip in with a bit of support Dread, but you don't need it. Your common sense is too much for these pricks to win any kind of argument. One can only repeat the word 'Wanker' over and over, the other, Mr Wall Street just bores us with talk of stocks and portfolios, he's living the dream. A genius from his bedroom. His wifes probably getting boned right now by the window cleaner as he is posting his wasted words.

thanks for your input, Duane. we all know that Gouletcolonial, despite his idiocy, at times has a sense of humor, and does not always take himself seriously. sometimes he actually attempts to be humorous, and make light of things. being a disciple of the obese retard, Rush Limbaugh of drug abuse fame, his viewpoints are a bit off kilter, but he is not pernicious. the other fellow, anthonyc, is more dangerous, because he is a know nothing who actually sees himself as being educated. he asserts nonsensical ideas which are unbecoming of a ten year old, thinking that he is offering up pearls of wisdom. as my Latin teacher, now departed, used to say; he who knows not, and knows not that he knows not, is a fool...shun him!

As for your personal attacks on others for their opinions and letting you know you are getting off track for this forum, it certainly demonstrates some mental or emotional instability of your own.
Perhaps it's time you relax a bit, or if you need to vent your anger, take it to an appropriate place.
We are here to exchange information and opinions about the DR, and help out those who wish to travel or live here.
This forum provides a great service to many and should not be abused.....thanks again Punta cana MIKE
The only one to blame for the mess in the DR are the Dominican People. They vote for those jerks. Nobody forces them.
Then again being the leftest you are it is impossible to accept the will of the people because you believe you are better and smarter than the masses.
The same applies to Haiti as well.
So get a life and try to exist in the real world before your mother cust of your allowance.
RIP
''That does not take away from the fact that he was doing what he wanted to do,'' Lantigua said of Alex Jimenez. ''We'll just remember his life, and what a gentleman he was. The community will continue to support his family any way we can.''
The US is not doing anything against the Gov of Vene or Bolivia. The US is within it's rights to do business with whoever they feel like. If we don't want to support a murdurous dictatorship in Cuba it is nobody's business but the US.
The DR has consistenly elected crooks and thieves and who's fault is that? The DOMINICAN PEOPLE!!!
Scream all you want about the US meddling the fact is when you go and vote nobody is pointing a gun to your head. You make a conscience decision. Live with it or do something about it.
As the late Juan Bosch used to say: "O jugamos todos con las mismas reglas, o se rompen las cartas".
That is precisely what occured when Balaguer started his first twelve years. Juan Bosch wasn't even allowed to campaign in public as the recipient of constant death threats and his supporters where harrassed or worse by the local security forces, all this happening while "international" forces in the country looked the other way. One should not comment with absolute certainty on something that they lack knowledge off. It makes that person look foolish.
1.This War is not about Iraq, but Iran, have you seen the news lately.
2.This is a all volenteer Armed Forces.
3.The price of oil is due to rise no matter what, last year China signed a oil pact with Iran & Siberia, China will have approx. 10 million cars in the next 5 years.
4. 9-11 was an act of War committed by cowards, where many Latin Americans were murdered.
5. There are Religious Fanatics bent on killing anybody who does not believe in the there Religion and want a one world Religion.
6. the price of freedom is not free, it is payed by blood.
just a thought, does anybody know the death toll of youth under 21 yrs. in Los Angeles County Calif. ? REMEMBER THIS...."NOBODY HATES WAR MORE, THEN THE ONES WHO HAVE TO FIGHT THEM".
"the american governments in the last century have displayed a lack of morality which is unsurpassed by any other known to man."
Are you just stupid, Ignorant or just plain jealous?
So the USA is worse than the Soviet Union under Stalin(and others) China under Mao, Germany under Hitler, Cambodia under Pol Pot, Iraq under Saddam, North Korea under Kim Il Jong or Uganda under Amin???
I can list dozens of Governments that have a lower Morality than the US. In fact if the US is so bad.......oh forget it.
Next time the Sh*t hits the fan in your Country please don't bother asking for help.
Well, certainly not worse, but it certainly has stolen, killed, oppressed and starved more people than all those regimes, either by direct intervention, puppet regimes installed, or by the result of the economic policies of its financial hitmen (IMF, World Bank, etc.), in Latin America alone. This you can't deny. As the saying goes: "El sol no se puede tapar con un dedo".
As one who served in the military, Jimenez and all servicemen/women did not die protecting the freedom of this country. They died for the capricious endeavors, and interest of the Bush administration his cronies and the like.
This is a fact. The truth has been out for some time. No weapons of mass destruction, no nuclear threat from Iraq. Substantial evidence has been presented to the American Public. The problem is the " denial factor ". The denial factor" "The denial factor".
I'll say it again "The Denial Factor"
Americans cannot accept the fact that they were "wrong" for believing the most pitiful representation of human existence, a waste of spermatozoon whom they voted for not once, but twice. What idiots.

THAT'S A SHAME .. SHAME .. SHAME .. SHAME ..
Yours Truly,

There is a very strong law in the DR against Cyber-abuse, and when you have enough data, the law works if you know how to use it.
