Santo domingo.- The Business Software Alliance-BSA, Microsoft Dominicana and the National District Attorney's Office today said the raids against computer equipment stores have increased for breaking the Law 65-00 on Intellectual Property and Copyright.

In recent months, both in the National District and in Santo Domingo Province, more than 12 computer assemblers and shops were searched to prevent the sale of equipment containing pre- installed computer programs without licenses. As a result of the raids, over 15 computers with unoriginal software installed were seized.

The bootlegs the department of Robo seize are then given to their family members. They do put on a show and I have seen pictures in the news where they run over the CD'd DVDs but I am pretty sure they are running over empty Jewel Cases..

They make their money and still are not sastified. This is what takes place as far as so called intellectual properties is concerned. When an item first is put out into the market, they make voer the amoung the expected profits. After that they will do a discount of so much percent and again they make another huge profit. At a later time a packaged is put together and again another huge profit. After all that is done then the item is marked down some eighty-five percent down and that will then be the end of their profit. The original is always the first items that were put out, the packaged is a copy of the original. In reality they are all copies of a copy. The people that are making duplicates which some are inferior and of poor quality should be allowed to do so cause they are not harming anyone. I will never buy items on the streets not cause of what the authorities/laws but cause I prefer originals. Softwares can be had free of charge on the internet and others things.

And besides paying for your software license is the right thing to do and the right thing to teach your children is to obey the laws and follow the rules.

Today is a good to start.

Any sensible decent citizen of the world wouldn't even be debating the differenc between right and wrong. And pirating is wrong just like selling fake medicine is wrong or cutting some off while driving.

"The people that are making duplicates which some are inferior and of poor quality should be allowed to do so cause they are not harming anyone."

Besides the fact they are stealing they are hurting the software company in another way. If a consumer purchases a product and it is of inferior quality it will cause a negative perception of the company. So if the product is inferior due to no fault of the company than it is hurt.

actually, folks, this is all part of the DR-CAFTA trade agreement. in a few years , generic drugs will be the target of property rights infringement. 15 computers is laughable: i bet they were the old 486 critters, not anything new. dog and pony show, if you ask me.

Intellectual property theft may acutally be quite common .. Xerox came out with the "first" version of a "Windows" Operating System for the PC .. which they had "borrowed" from a Russian programmer who never received a penny for his work .. then Apple mysteriously appeared with an Operating System for their Apple Macintosh that looked exactly like the Xerox version .. before you know it .. Microsoft released their first version of Windows .. oh well .. maybe it was just all a bunch of coincidences .. like the way the Russians got hold of A-Bomb secrets given to them by the Rosenbergs .. or how the Chinese got their A-Bomb developed .. or how Pakistan and India got their A-Bombs .. just a series of coincidences ..

Very little is "invented" these days .. I know this is ancient history but bear with me .. WWII .. Germany was launching those dreaded V1 flying bombs and V2 rockets .. they had a Messerschmitt fighter with jet engines .. way ahead of their time .. way ahead of US rocket man Goddard who was struggling to build rockets with his own cash .. at war's end all that Nazi hardware stuff ended up in Huntsville AL .. along with the Nazi scientists who built the stuff .. Werner Von Braun .. you could not get any more Nazi than that guy .. Hitler's main rocket man .. he headed the US space program that eventually sent Neil Armstrong to the moon .. go figure ..
