Santo Domingo. - The financier Luis Alvarez Renta, one of four convicted in the Baninter bank fraud case said Wednesday he’ll file a challenge to the Supreme Court ruling, which upheld the Court of Appeals verdict, in a court outside Dominican Republic.
He also said United States and Costa Rica lawyers were hired to take his case before the Intermerican Human Rights Court, based in San Jose, Costa Rica, because in his view, "pressures and influences" prevailed in the case that made the judicial verdict illegal.
The financier, sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine in the millions for money laundering and fraud, spoke to the press today Wednesday, hours prior to appearing before Sentencing judge Saulo Ysabel Diaz.
On Friday the Supreme Court announced it rejected all appeals filed by the lawyers of the Central Bank (plaintiff) as well as by the defense of those convicted of embezzling US$2.5 billion from Baninter prior to its collapse.

The ten (10) years would turn into a death sentence.
I am embarrassed to be an American if we take this seriously. One has to ask where is he getting the money (if he did not rape the bank).
