Rafael Camilo. Baninter on the record books; Bancredito is pending.
SANTO DOMINGO.- The convictions and subsequent incarceration of the executives
of the collapsed bank Baninter on fraud and money-laundering charges have taken
the Dominican Republic’s Justice system to “period of glory,” said the
country’s Banks Superintendent today.
Rafael Camilo said the country’s banking system is “totally cleaned up” as
evidenced by the convictions and prison sentences against former Baninter
president Ramon Baez Figueroa and the executives Luis Alvarez Renta, Marcos
Baez Cocco and Vivian Lubrano. “With this conviction we can say that Dominican Republic
has begun its period of glory.”
The official, interviewed on Teleantillas Channel 2, denied allegations that
foreign governments or local sectors influenced the court verdict, in reference
to Alvarez Renta’s statement before heading to prison Friday the U.S.
took part in his conviction.
“The Baninter case was of such a scope that it shows there’s a strengthening
of the Dominican banking system. It’s been totally cleaned up,” Camilo said.
Only Lubrano has yet to be incarcerated in the prison at Najayo, San Cristobal (south),
after she was hospitalized with an alleged “panic attack.”
On another topic, the Banks Superintendent affirmed that the country's banks
are under strict supervision and maintain a high level of liquidity, resulting
from a stable economy.

Aristo [Marx' favorite among the ancients] says FEAR is a pain that arises from the idea or perception that danger approaches us.
What is panic?
Panic seems to be a sudden and overwhelming degree of fear or pain that accompanies the rapid approach of danger that hits hard and spreads quickly throughout the whole soul.
Now, what is the danger that excites her fear or pain?
Oh yeah, the prison at Najayo.
Why is this alleged attack of fear sudden?
Lubrano knew she was a convicted thief; so she expected something like Najayo.
Dread is not sudden fear. Dread is an overwhelming fear that is felt for some time, as the danger that excites it approaches us.
Dread attack sounds more like what she had than a panic attack, if she had anything.
She had the wrong kind of attack.

If that's the case, then the Baninter officers stole a good chunk of imperialist money too.
The officers probably cleaned out the accounts of its US off-shore shell company depositors, dodging US taxes and duped US investment banks that bought the bank's worthless "triple A-rated" bonds.
