SANTO DOMINGO.- Another of the suspects in the country’s biggest drug-trafficking case was released after being sentenced to time served, as part of a plea-bargaining with the U.S. Fedenral Prosecutor in New York, said newspaper Listin Diario.

Jose Ebel Burdiez de Leon, sentenced in the Quirino Paulino case by Judge Kimba Wood in New York, was released yesterday after a hearing in Manhattan’s South District Federal Court. His arrest took place June 16, 2005, after the arrest of Army captain Quirino Paulino on December 18, 2004.

Paulino was deported to the U.S. in February, 2005, where he awaits judge Wood’s sentence.

Burdiez, who plead guilty to charges of money-laundering and drug-trafficking, was placed on 3 years probation but no fines were levied.

Grassy knoll people do not try to cast aspersions on Judge Wood she has been vetted so many times and except for a nanny problem would be on the US supreme court today....She followed the recommendation of the prosecutor so the perp would cooperate

When for possession of crack cocaine they can lock you up for decades? Con Llaves de chocolate.
This was an award winning plee bargain? Who's on first, What's of second, and I don't know's on third............

without his testimony the others walk.....do you remember Sammy the Bull Gravanno the murderer his is the best example of this kind of justice ...but it is the only way to get them to sing...In the DR it just buy your way out nobody goes down

They have very little choice except to plead .. 97% of the narcotics cases are settled in this manner .. because most people are unwilling to challenge the FEDS when a MANDATORY MINIMUM SENTENCE awaits if they decide to fight and then LOSE .. losing could fetch them 25 years to LIFE in a Federal Pen .. so they PLEAD .. Sammy also had racketeering and murder charges .. sensing an impending GAMBINO family whack, he turned canary ..

People: Judge Kimba Wood is a very competent judge. And how my brother gouletcolonial stated she would have been in the U.S. Supreme Court. I am very sure they got very good "cooperation" in return.

It was not fear of retribution that made Sammy talk it was pure fear of a small room for a long time with bad food that made him tell all.....after token time .....Sammy hid in plain sight,until he was busted again for drugs

the feds are cutting deals, that is all this is. they see this guy as a smaller fish, and they got what they need from him. all the goods they need on the big boys have been delivered by him. the other guys are going to face some hard time, because, surely, he has sang loudly. otherwise, they would not have let him walk.

Oh yea I bet he did a lot of singing. Quiring's trial is going to be fascinating. I am curious to know who else will be implicated. Because as we all know Quirino could not have done it alone.

Hippo better watch his butt, i always said. it is not too late for them to request extradition in this case.
