SANTO DOMINGO. – The opposition PRSC party’s senior councilman will present a motion in the next National District City Council session to endorse the proposal of ruling the PLD party deputies spokesman, to eliminate the small parties which haven’t presented candidacies in the last few elections.

PRSC party spokesman in the Council Milton Ginebra called the minute parties lazy and parasitic, for taknig advantage of taxpayers money assigned by the Central Electoral Board.

The opposition leader asked support for Alejandro Montas’ position, because in his view the proliferation of "particles" has created a new race that lives only off the political activity without contributing anything.

Ginebra spoke in the National District City Council accompanied by several council members who support the motion and also members of his party, which reached only 4.8 percent in the May 18 presidential elections.

The PRSC's wish is to eliminate competition. Is that anything new in politics? Me,me, Me, philosophy? The fewer political parties, the easier it is to bribe, or convince the few. It's a numbers game like sales. Except that the goal here is to subtract only, or divide; Not to add or multiply.
Once in the past the Partido Reformista, and the Partido Social Cristiano were two distinct parties. What happened a strong arm merger? A hostile takeover? What we see is the goal of all true politicians to seek the path of least resistence. Sometimes that entails getting rid of the small guys (parties). The big ones are easy to defeat.
