Santo Domingo. – Opposition PRD party leader Milton Ray Guevara cautioned on Thursday that the organization cannot shut out the possibility of a dialogue, because the opposition doesn’t have to be “a madness.”

He said the Dominican political class has “been blazing a mistaken trail” with its  radical and uncontrolled talk and actions which don’t contribute to reaching a climate of prosperity for the majority of the Dominican people.

The jurist stressed that the opposition party must participate in the dialogue which, in his view various sectors of Dominican society are supporting, and defined himself as a cultivator of dialogue and agreement. “The PRD cannot stop participating in a dialogue that seeks to solve the problems and that aims to create a project of nation on topics like energy, education, health, environment and institutional reinforcement.”

Ray Guevara said an opposition party’s role is to make opposition, “but not an opposition of madness,” and for which a  policy of agreement with the other political forces and society’s players is needed.

He also called on Dominican society to demand an agreement from politicians that secures results in a determined period.

The aims of the opposition parties is not to agree with the presently ruling party but rather to keep a vigilant and built constructive criticism. Their other job as a party is to prepared themselves for future elections while fortifying their political base. The ruling party cannot expect for the opposition to be holding hands with them on all issues, they are different parties with different but similar idealogies as to the way to governed.

Perhaps, I am politically incorrect but the opposition should continue to follow-up with those issues they were advocating during the last campaign in order to be perceived as positive and for the best interest of the country:
Why is the "PRD" now so quiet about the "SUN LAND" case, among others matters they were disputing about? The problem with these traditional political parties is that they do not practice what they preach, they are just looking to help them self not the mother land. Whats up with that PRD?

(Ahora nadie habla del préstamo de $130 millones de dólares.)
