FBI agents witnesses confiscation of Benítez brothers’ properties, including 12 luxury condos

SANTO DOMINGO.- Twelve luxury condos worth around US$1 million each, said to be property of four Cuban brothers implicated in a US$110 million fraud of the United States Medicare system were seized yesterday in Malecon Center, located in the Dominican capital’s seaside avenue of the same name.

Agents of the Justice Ministry’s Anti-laundering Unit headed the operation, and investigate the alleged network involving other foreigners and Dominicans, a case several members of the FBI participated as witnesses.

The raids and confiscation of assets scattered in different parts of the country, bought by the Cuban brothers Oscar, Carlos, Jose and Luis Benítez. One the twelve apartments totally was furnished.

Interim Instruction Court Coordinating judge Roman Berroa Hiciano issued the warrants to raid and seize the real properties that include others confiscated Wednesday of last week in the tourist zones Bavaro and Punta Cana, Altagracia province (east).

According to preliminary estimates, the investments by the foreigners, who have at least eight Dominican partners, could reach as high as RD$300 billion, and include vehicles, lots, boats, helicopters, yachts, hotels and cabañas.

The Anti-laundering Unit affirms that there is a list of the Cubans’ eight Dominican partners; notaries, developers, lawyers and dealers among them.

That's funny, GC focuses on the cuban roots; I the main message I get from this article is that you need to steal & cheat to be able to buy these types of apartments, fancy cars, yachts, and so on. So maybe we should audit all the people who are able to buy these places, to see where they got their money.

It is by everybody well known that since old times in any movie (and that is what is sold to us in the real world) the "good guys" are the "gringos" and the "bad guys" are always the "others", no matter what.

Piece of info: every real estate operation involving aliens is reported to the Department of Interior and Policia, so the authorities here knew or should have known..

Now, whether they investigated it is another story.

From here on, all educated guesses are permitted..

GC - as always you are an agent of misinformation and sophomoric points. You are quite a gem. I wonder what went wrong in your life to be such a misanthropic person. But that's neither here or there, people like you have their rights to post, even if your points are nonsense and crass must of the time.

Can I suggest you read three books:
1. Making Race and Nation
2. The Miner's Canary
3. Pedagogy of the Oppressed

Maybe these authors can help illuminate your mind.

Cuban Americans and Dominican Americans are alike.

As long as they do alright, they are CAs or DAs.

But as soon as they are caught dealing dope, selling humans, laundering money, murdering and swindling, their identity at birth as "Cubans" or "Dominicans" is suddenly restored, regardless of the passport they carry or their citizenship papers.

Since the DR recognizes dual nationality of Dominicans, perhaps the DAs have a stronger case of becoming solely Dominican again when they get caught doing something worng.

Here's some more news about swindling capitalists in the USA who claim to be "Cubans" .

http://www.granma.cu/INGLES/2008/julio/vier25/31usaid-i.html

"With the recognition that the Cuban-American mafia has been diverting funds for the U.S. government’s annexationist plans for Cuba for years now, Congress froze $45 million of funds allocated this year to the U.S. Agency for International Development Cuba (USAID) Cuba program… only to subsequently bend to White House promises and unfreeze a large part of them."

"In its Tuesday edition, The Miami Herald revealed how Congressman Howard Berman, (D-, Cal), ordered the freezing of the funds last month, partly in response to a $500,000 embezzlement in the Washington Center for a Free Cuba, which came to light earlier this year."

"However, under pressure from the White House and USAID itself, plus promises that the cases of fraud would be investigated, Berman announced that the funds would immediately be unfrozen."
