Santo Domingo.- The consulates in the country have been forced to increase the rejection of visa applications at their windows, because of altered documents that include birth and marriage records, identity cards and adoptions of children.
Government and Central Electoral Board (JCE) agents work on hundreds of fraud cases reported by United States and European Union consulates, who say the number of illegal cases in the Civil Registrar are unprecedented compared with other nations.
JCE officials acknowledged its weakness to curb the mafia’s Civil Registrar document-forgery "factory," and in its entire technical registration process to issue IDs.
Of the JCE’s 160 registry offices operating across the country only five are technically prepared –all located in greater Santo Domingo- where it said it’s impossible to perform multiple registrations.

Fraud and forgery in the DR ...I am shocked shocked

I agree, how dare they!!!!!!!!!!!! That puts them in direct competition with the government

I certainly hope they don't give anybody visas to enter ANY country until they get their situation rectified in the DR as it relates to government documents/ID's.
Our little half-island nation is too used to thinking they can get away with taking advantage of others. Corruption, deceit and outright impunity are the norm in DR and I'm just sick of it. We have our values twisted and what' was considered to be commendable and plausible is now viewed as a sign of stupidity.

Well, I guess there goes the ballgame insofar as getting immigrant for my wife and 3 adopted boys, doesn't it?
I've already spent over US$3000.00 getting the adoptions, all the forms completed, notarized, copied and authenicated, now they throw this monkey-wrench into the works.
I feel like taking an AR-15 and cleaning up on all the crooks I can find.

chillaxin, i am afraid i have to concur with your dire prediction. i have seen it only too often. the last case i saw was a girl who went to San Juan to pick up her visa, and the next thing her husband knew was that she was in brooklyn. she caught a flight out of san juan under cover of secrecy and left the poor guy looking all over for her in PR.

From: Dominican Republic
chilliaxin, you lousy SOB, we have been happily married for over 4 years. How dare you infer that our marriage is "in name only" and that my lovely and very religious wife married me for nefarious reasons. She was informed at the beginning that we WOULD NOT be moving to the States. The decision to do so was MY DECISION ALONE without ANY prompting from her. The same thing with the adoptions.
So, before you cast disparagements against ANYONE, you might take a very close look at yourself in the mirror and identify the sorry SOB that you see.

actually, Goulet, i make no mention of Texas Bill here. i do not know the man more than from his posts, and i am not privy to his circumstances. i am agreeing with chill on a general, not specific level. and if you disagree with me, just ask the gazillion gringos who have come here, married Dominicans, only to find that a month after they land in the USA they have all skeedaddled off to the Heights, leaving spouse in the dust. that, my friend, is par for the course, and nothing unusual.

Certain people are forgetting that Dominicans are not all dastardly and crooked, there’s still people with moral character left on the island; the problem is that they are not in positions of power.

Goulet, i have nothing but respect for TB, and he should know that i am not referring directly to him in my posts. but there are general issues at stake, and, if they are remotely referential to his circumstance, he should not take things personally. i have personally helped two Dominican women set up residence in New York, extending my home to them free of charge. as soon as they found their own folks through the network of cab drivers and hairdressers, they were gone!! no forwarding address, no calls to say hello, nothing. i have no idea where they are today. the sad thing is that this would be true if the folks were from Argentina, Chad, Myanmar. i guess it is called: comfort level. they feel more secure with their own. it is not a flaw in character in all cases.

My post was directed, essentially, at those who use insensitive the language of "ONE FITS ALL" in their posts.
If the SHOE FITS, THEN SO BE IT. I make NO APOLOGY.
To those whose intentions are a not specifically to direct ones posts, then mea culpa andI beg forgiveness.
Perhaps I am a bit sensitive when it comes to derrogatory references about my family or mine in all circumstances, but a direct reference of such really sets me off andI must respond to that person(s) who commit the sin of slander against those whom I have great affection.
I am sure that most of you feel the same way and have absolutely NO TOLERANCE for those who make use of generalized statements against individuals.

From: United States
Goulet, chill may have offended TB in the way his post was phrased, but the facts speak for themselves. the streets of new york are littered with the hopes of gringos who came here, " fell in love" with some girl, laid out a mess of money to get her a visa, and, after a while, has no idea of her whereabouts. ( some women have been taken in by sankey pankeys, also).this is not news: anybody who has not been residing in a cave for the last 20 years knows the score on this issue.

If you really think about it dread they would be in the minority of these types of inter cultural marriages ...but they would be enough to notice ....All foreigners looking for a greencard from anywhere think this is the easiest way to get in...not just the DR.....Also any failed marriage the person who was legal would feel wronged or used possibly....Just like that chick that left you handcuffed to the bed after she had degraded you and then walked out and you had to scream for the landlord to come with a hack saw
From: United States
Goulet, you make a very accurate point, darn it! women from all over the world, looking to come to the states, will pull the same stunt.Dominican women are not unique in that respect. i am sure if there is a website Phillipinestoday.com, some guy is cautioning future victims about the same possibility, in quite the same way we are doing here. as to the girl who chained me to the radiator; we have a 6pm appointment for an encore performance. and no, you may not come over to my house to watch!
