A protest staged by Falpo in Santiago last year.
SANTIAGO.- The new spokesman of the leftist entities grouped in Falpo, known for staging some of the most violent strikes in the country, announced the organization’s incursion into the political activity, to seek shares of power in government office, to reach major successes in its grassroots demands.
Victor Breton said Falpo seeks to expand by creating cells of that popular grouping in towns where it isn’t present and for now try to penetrate at least seven cities.
He said they’ll also change their traditional fighting methods for dialogue and agreement, and an end to confrontations with police and unnecessary bloodshed.
Nevertheless, Breton said the country’s economic situation is delicate and warned that Falpo will not stand idly by until the Government changes its economic policy.
He said the group will propose a reform of the hydrocarbon Law to the Industry and Commerce Ministry, and to reach a consensus with the authorities, industrialists and the unions for a wage increase for private and government employees.
It also condemned what he called a disproportionate wage increase the deputies approved for themselves, and challenged them to do the same with the country’s population of workers.

Leftist commie, Guerrilla. Yes these names may be appropriate. However, I give them/him some credit he/they are acting.
What are we doing? Nothing but watching reading about it on the side lines.
Do you want to change the direction we (as Dominicans) are moving in?
Then act and don't watch! Get involved!
And so, my fellow Dominican, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.

Looks like the DR needs a"patriot act" of it's own. These thugs just wish an excuse to loot ,theive and extort from others. I am surprised this can go on , will no one route these foul minions of Marxism ? I am sure some one knows where their 'leader' sleeps at night...

This country does NOT need more left. Sadly there's no right wing political party in the DR, except for Fuerza Nacional Progresista. The Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD) is leftist, Partido de la Liberacion Dominicana (PLD) is leftist, but thank God they've moved to the center; and I don't consider Partido Reformista Social Cristiano (PRSC) right wing, it's just another populist party.
Like the FARC in Colombia, this marxist group just means trouble.

This is certainly a move to legitimize their standing in the political arena. Never-the-less, it should be recognized that they are a bunch of comies who would act just like the FARC and other like organizations to gain their agendas.
The real problem is that theDominican people don't realize just what this is all about, politically, being a nation of the politically naive. just look at the mess they have created by adhering to theso-called promises of the incumbents in government, both past and present.

Perhaps someone with ambition and resources can provide a better option. Or a real prescription to our decrepit state. Though I don't agree with the views of this movement I commend them for taking action and gravitating towards the political arena . Perhaps if they gain traction they'll become a wakeup call.
Many praise Martin Luther King for his civil right movement and accomplishments while in the shadows walked the true catalyst for civil rights. Malcom X. If not for Malcolm X bold "in your face attitude and politics", we would have been twiddling our thumbs straight through the 80's.

Listen to this .. I would hate to see "politically naive" .. don't you want to just lock this pest up and throw away the key? time to get back into your petri disk TubercleBaccilus ..

In no way am I comparing this group to MLK. My statements were simply:
1: Commending someone for "taking initiative" in their strong beliefs rather standing idle criticizing on the sidelines.
2: MLK is regarded as the hero of Civil rights but many fail to acknowledge or admit that behind the horse and pony shows, grand marches speeches and celebrations of MLK, their was a greater impetus pushing us into Civil Rights Movement. Malcolm had the potential to evoke more passion than MLK, thus posing a greater threat to the establishment "the old guard".

sangwong;
wouldn't you say that the people who elect the same type of criminally insane election year after election year are politically naive?
One would think that these people would eventually wake up to the type of people they are dealing with. Instead, time after time they elect the same ones to office (just different parties) whom they know will go through thesame motions of governing as the ones who are being replaced.
In theUSA we have Corporate Giantswho rob the people, here it is theelected officials--you know, those whom are elected to serve THE PEOPLE.
Any comparison of this government to any other is purely coincidental.
As to TubercleBacillus, I've already had it, so it can't do me any harm again.
All this "name calling" by you toward others just reflects your inability to communicate with any degree of sophitication or intellectuality.

You just elected a criminally insane guy to the highest office in your goverment .. his name is George HW Bush .. you also put another criminally insane guy in with him .. Richard Cheney .. that's two criminally insane guys together .. and you see what happened .. they sent over 4000 perfectly good American soldiers to their deaths .. your criminally insane President and Vice President invaded Iraq and Afghanistan .. close to 1,000,000 Iraqis have disappeared or died .. that my friend is a criminally insane act .. by criminally insane leaders .. your two criminally insane leaders are now posturing for a possible attack on Iran ..
OK now it's your turn TubercleBaccillus .. tell me how many people have died, been injured, maimed and disappeared from the criminally insane acts of Dominican leaders .. I dont' hear you Tubercle Baccilus .. probably busy reading up on the Criminally Insane .. keep counting the bodies of the dead and injured and report back to me in the morning ? While you are busy recording the carnage .. tell me how many countries in the Caribbean and elsewhere were invaded and occupied by the criminally insane acts of Dominican leaders
Like the rest of the geniuses on this forum .. you just keep shoving your foot in your mouth .. you just cannot conceal your acute arrogance and ignorance .. it must be all that white powder you keep snorting up your schnoz .. it has seriously affected your ability to reason correctly .. your leader snorted a lot of that "white powder" before he got to the White House. His wife Laura threatend to leave him if he kept snorting. But did he really stop? Look around you.

Speaking of "arrogance and ignorance", you should really read your own posts before commenting like that.
As to Bush andCheney, they are repeats of Andrew Jackson's Administration when it comes to "cronyism" and inept administration of the country.
GWB wanted to revenge his father and used the WMD scenario as an excuse. Only thing he did was rid the Iraquis of a despotic dictator.
Since then it has been the Iraquis themselves who have succumed to "ethnic cleansing" within their own ranks by pitting one fanatical group against another.
So much for "Religious Fanaticism" within Islam.
From all reports, the Iraquis are finally getting their act together and solving their problems through cooperataion amoung the religious sectatian groups.Lets just hope they're successful in the near term.

I assume that you are an American from the arrogance and ignorance that spews from your pores .. another great American talent is "rewriting history" .. he starts by blaming Saddam .. then praises the US for toppling him .. then says it was all a mistake .. then blames the Iraqis for messing up their own country .. why don't you just check into a mental health clinic TubercleBaccilus .. you are totally insane .. probably criminally so .. it's a little old fashioned by today's standards but there is something called "shock therapy" .. in your case you need an electric chair .. you know .. something with enough juice to shock you into reality .. it might help to correct all that contorted and confounded babble .. do it for your own sake and for the sake of the grand kids .. and for us here who must struggle with your atrociously poor command of the English language ..

I need those numbers so I can compare them with the casualties from the actions of those two criminally insane American leaders in the White House .. the ones that you elected through your US Supreme Court .. so who are the politically naive now TubercleBaccilus?
