NEW YORK.- New York City last night paid tribute to the Dominican Jose Enrique Ulloa (Ricky), 23, who was killed in Iraq on Saturday when his vehicle was hit by a bomb that seriously injured two other soldiers.

The New York councilpersons headed by Christine Quinn, Dominican councilman Miguel Martinez (Upper Manhattan) and councilwoman Diana Reyna (Brooklyn), accompanied by representatives of the Latino and Black caucuses, paid tribute to Ulloa who lived at Audubon Avenue and 177th St.

Quinn praised the soldiers fighting in Iraq and asked the municipal lawmakers for a minute of silence in memory of the soldier from Washington Heights, a Dominican neighborhood home to several members of the U.S. military who’ve already died.

RIP to this great dominican man.

My personal opinion is that Dominican-Americans should leave Iraq. This is such a waste of young lives. Go back to NY and start over guys, don't stay in the US militairy.

Very sorry for this young man and his family. Yet another young life wasted fighting the Bush-Cheney personal war that has claimed over 4,125 of our youngest and brightest. There is no need for this war. Our troops could have been put to much better use elsewhere. But you will see more and more of this because the US military is having a hard time finding recruits even in economically depressed areas like Canton OH. Recruits are increasingly US Permanent Residents from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Dominican Republic. Many branches of the US military are now offering waivers to new recruits with serious felony offences.

As CITIZENS of the US we have a right .. in fact an OBLIGATION .. to point out those things that are patently wrong with OUR COUNTRY. Just as YOU have the same rights in YOUR COUNTRY. That is HOW we have been able to effect the SOCIAL CHANGES that made the US the country you see TODAY. The struggle for EQUAL RIGHTS is a case in point. Leaders like the Reverend Martin Luther King marched in the streets of Selma and Montgomery demanding the basic rights GUARANTEED under the US CONSTITUTION. They were set upon by POLICE DOGS, BEATEN, ARRESTED and IMPRISONED. They were told they should RETURN TO AFRICA. Thousands of other people LOST THEIR LIVES in that struggle when they were LYNCHED and their homes set on FIRE. Are you going to call those people "HYPOCRITS"? Where do you want AMERICAN CITIZENS to be when they are criticizing their country? In GREENLAND? So before you let your BRAIN go off on VACATION like that? First READ UP on US HISTORY and the US CONSTITUTION. OK?

Just because the US gave you and others jobs and some money does not give George Bush and Richard Cheney the right to spend MY MONEY and send MY KIDS to die in Iraq just to boost their egos. The war in Iraq could cost between $1 TRILLION to $2 TRILLION. Do YOU want to pay for it? Then write Bush-Cheney and send them YOUR MONEY.

He died serving his country and only a true patriot can understand what that means.

Condolences to his family, friends and fellow soldiers.

Take time to grieve his untimely death and then celebrate his life.

He made the ultimate sacrifice!

What a pile of mushy garbage .. "true patriot " .. PATRIOTISM .. the last refuge of the SCOUNDREL. So how many "true patriots" are there here today? Why don't YOU go and DIE for this Bush-Cheney personal vendetta? They will paste your mug up here and we will write about how YOU "sacrificed" for Bush-Cheney. Let's see how "patriotic" YOU ARE. This young man died because a bunch of IDIOTS in the White House cooked up a PHONY WAR in Iraq. He gave up his life because Bush-Cheney made STUPID DECISIONS. If you cannot see this then you are JUST LIKE THOSE IDIOTS IN THE WHITE HOUSE.

It appears that the world has no shortage of STUPID LEADERS .. Saakashvili in Georgia woke up last week and decided he wanted to have a war with RUSSIA .. a country that even the US with all it's military might is AFRAID TO MESS WITH .. it was a STUPID DECISION for which he has paid a HEAVY PRICE .. it is not just WAR that kills SOLDIERS .. it is STUPID LEADERS like BUSH-CHENEY and Saakashvili. Real MORONS who find it TOO PAINFUL TO THINK. Then they leave it to OTHER PEOPLES KIDS to CLEAN UP THEIR STINKING MESS.

I am still waiting for somebody to explain what they mean when they say that these soldiers " paid the ultimate price serving their country" you are not serving anything when some dopes send you off to a distant land to die in the interest of geopolitical skullduggery. no sir, you die serving your country when foreign powers invade, and you pick up arms to defend the homeland. when you are sent off to fight in a country you cannot find on the map, against people you know nothing about, then you are just a victim idiotic initiatives of decrepit old geriatrics who should be playing with nintendo!

Exactly .. a total waste of young lives to satisfy the Bush-Cheney ego. Why don't they send their own kids to fight that stupid war?
