SANTO DOMINGO. – A 6-passenger private jet disappeared 8:10 p.m. Monday four miles after takeoff from the Las Americas International Airport, newspaper Diario Libre reports

Only the pilot and one passenger were aboard the U.S.-registry airplane when it headed to Isla Grande, Puerto Rico, said Airports Department director Andres Vanderhorst.

He said the jet disappeared from the airport’s radar, which prompted Dominican Air Force planes and helicopters to search the Caribbean waters.

Tony Fernandez, the owner pilot was a very nice person and local businessman PR. He was flying solo, in his cessna Citation 500. He had over 3000 hrs, and 700 in jets. What ever it was it was quick.

For everyones info, not all jets require a copilot.

For example John Travolta had his 737 remodified in order that he could fly it byhimself.

Copilts are required on the complexity of the aircraft and if you are carriying passengers for hire.

Though experienced he was pushing 70 years old. He also called home and reported having electrical problems. The plane required a boost to start up due to batteries. He had money to have a co-pilot, guys will fly jets for the hours of experience.

We have been getting different info all day. But it was just one pilot. Now they say they may have located the wreckage near Aquadilla , PR.

So, how did a jet fly from SDQ to BQN, (aguadilla) no radio contact and no one called RADAR etc. to see if it was a drug runner etc. The system is only as good as those working it. So just watch nothing change with planes and radar in DR.
