If it is so easy to debate with President Mejia about this matter, why the “great intellectuals” Leonel Fernández and Marino Vinicio Castillo do not confront him? It must be a piece of cake, no? What a wonderful opportunity for them to get political advantage. After all he is STILL NOW the most important opposition leader in our country.
President Mejia had to manage a huge economical crisis and in the process he paid a huge political cost while the necessary work was done. These jerks has more than four years ruling the country and nobody knows what is going to happen with us.

Regardless of party affiliation, I believe Hipolito was a great head of State, but ran into some unavoidable issue that created discontent in the Dominican society which LF capitalize on, example was the Pan American Games, where the state spend millions of dollars on a commitment agreed to by previous the administration (LF ?), Hipolisto could have said no, but he understood that saying NO would have a negative impact on the country.

His "advisers were the worst con men and mercenaries in the island like Andy "Bin Laden" Daujadre and gang.
He is guilty as sin for his association with his previous huge campaign donator and PRD leader Mr. Quirino and he is just stepping himself ahead of the investigation to cry "wolf" when they come knocking at his door.

Sorry to rain in your parade, but the 2003 Pan American games were the most corrupt and wasteful games in the history of the Pan Am games. Hipoloco almost gave Olegario Vazquez Rana a heart
attack, finishing some of the venues the same day of the event.
It was one of the few public works projects that was handled directly with Miguelito Vargas as all the other important public works were managed by Hernani Salazar.
Pan Am games are a party for rich countries. The DR has no business getting involved in the sponsoring of such events. They where sold as if the country would have benefited economically but NO Pan American Games have EVER made money, because the Olympic games are the only money making event as you can sell the TV transmission rights. But nobody wants to watch the Pan Am games so they had no takers as far as television rights.
Also all those involved profited greatly from the construction of the venues, so much so that it was regarded as a "retirement bonus" for some.

If we had “four years of the disastrous PRD government”, why we ended with 29 PRD’s senators in 2002 and the actual government working in politics without any scruple and with a media dictatorship only got 22 senators in 2006? There was a crisis in 2003, stupid (Have you heard about BANINTER, BANCREDITO and Banco Mercantil?), and you are not the only one that was hurt. Look around over there, in United Sates. The Baninter insurance company could have been salvaged as well and in just a few days it was worthless due to the ineptness of Hipolito.
The same thing with the merge with Banco del Progreso.
The Pepe Goico thing was badly managed as well and that's how the whole thing started.

Then the disposal and care of the assetts that were left were looted by the PRD cronies and

Now read my postings again and this time take some Ritalin to help your concentration since you obviously lack brain cells in your attention span and only understand a limited portion of what I write. Then go to Avenida Duarte, pull down your trousers and grind some glass with your bu.t.

This "fight" is really a mismatch, I missed sparring with a worthy opponent not a featherweight.
It is like Kimbo Slice against Pee Wee Herman, (me being Kimbo Slice of course).
What head blows? You need glasses, he didn't even come close with his unbalanced and crazy
jabs to the air that did not score any points.
I am getting bored, is there anyone else out there that wants to come in the defense of Hipoloco The Great? One that preferably has not benefitted from the gross corruption or had a nice salary maybe in dollars from his barefoot excellency?

Generoso, these are facts: 1. Hipolito Mejía was a good president in the middle of a terrible situation that was not his fault. 2. He did what it was necessary to do. Other countries in the same situation are doing exactly the same thing (protecting their financial system) – that is “a fact”, Generoso–. 3. The purple pest still now is accusing him about everything because they do not have something better to say about their poor work.4. He is the only Dominican politician with enough courage for to put all these things on the right track (these conservatives –Leonel Fernandez’s bosses– are going to kill us). Those are facts, looser.

Generous, have you ever heard about what comprehensive reading is? It is really sad you dropped so early. Perhaps in third grade you could learn enough so you could see all the facts you have in front. It is not enough to read, you need the capacity to understand what you read. It is not enough to repeat over and over what they asked you to repeat as a part of the dirtiest campaign in our political history.

I wonder why Lie-onel doen't arrest Hipolito?
_________________________________________
Good Question, but according to a lot of dominicans here in DR, Ladronel does not want to go there.
If Ladronel is Legit, why does he not take hipolito up , on that offer? kind of like when vargas challenge him for a debate, on where both of there incomes came from.
His "Party" would do well to kick him out and put him out to pasture FOREVER!!
Stupid is as Stupid does.
TexasBill
I wonder why Lie-onel doen't arrest Hipolito?
why?
because this country is very free, and is more likely you to get arrest it in the U.S and torture in secret then here!!
Where ya been pardner. Have not spoken with you since Christmas. Hope your doing well and had a good New Year.
Texasshoe
President Mejia had to manage a huge economical crisis and in the process he paid a huge political cost while the necessary work was done. These jerks has more than four years ruling the country and nobody knows what is going to happen with us.
Keep talking, keep saying all that garbage but if you are brave enough go and shout “Viva Leonel” in a public bus.
I just don't understand why Lie-onel doesn't arrest Hipolito and any other person he has evidence of their wrong doing.
I know Vincho got his Big Fat "Donkey" whipped in court by Hernani Salazar for false accusations, but that shouldn't stop Lie-onel from going after the big fish Hipolito.
Even Chauncey has proof of Hipolito's criminal activity!
He is guilty as sin for his association with his previous huge campaign donator and PRD leader Mr. Quirino and he is just stepping himself ahead of the investigation to cry "wolf" when they come knocking at his door.
Most of the military named in the inditement were close collaborators with him and had direct access to the man. Some were in the presidential guard. You all know who I am talking about.
He wants to run for president again and make his buddy Leonel stay in power forever as the voters have a nightmare when they imagine him being president again.
Que Dios nos agarre confesados!
attack, finishing some of the venues the same day of the event.
Dumb ass Hipoloco was sold the event as a money making and prestigious venture and it was none of the above, serving only to wastefully spend millions of dollars with few buildings left to show for it.
If you can write here that “President Mejia was an imbecile” (and that is your opinion) then I can write that “you” are an imbecile (and that is my opinion).
This government does not have a person as brilliant as Andy Dahuajare. Victor Díaz Rua is not a better minister than Miguel Vargas Maldonado, Alejandrina Germán was not a better minister than Milagros Ortíz Bosch and the PRD team was far better that this bunch of clowns that we have now.
There was an economic crisis, idiot, and that team fought really hard to manage the situation. They did a good job, not a “perfect” job but a good one and now we do not know what is going to happen if something similar happens with the PLD in charge.
I am vacationing here if you must know.
I lived all four years of the disastrous PRD government in DR and I am still hurting.
With the exception of Doña Milagros Ortiz Bosch who I always admired and Don Hugo Tolentino Dipp who resigned in disgust to Hipoloco's decrees, all others were inept to say the least.
Make your comments not as a rebuttal because I made you angry with my comments, but state what you believe. Every moronic individual that believes that Hipoloco did a good job and Andy "Bin Laden" is not a mercenary. Then more power to you. These clowns caused and made the economic crisis worse by their inept handling of the Baninter failure. You can not shield the sun with one finger as it is said.
So, idiot I am not comparing the PLD ministers with Hipoloco's men. They are dumb and dumber.
BTW you meant living in paradise, not "leaving" in paradise correct moron?
I am not a PLD member, thanks.
You must have good reasons for adoring Hipoloco. BUT, and that is a big but,
do not let your opinion be influenced by whatever benefits you might incur if the PRD ever returns to power again.
The big lie that all Hipolito cronies recite like a rosary is blaming the banking crisis on the most terrible government the DR has had since Trujillo. You forgot all the scams, and the malaise, and the
daily insults by Hipoloco, the Renove scandal, the corrupt Pan American games. The bond emissions that vanished,
The unlimited Baninter card use to buy helicopters. The commitment of Dominican soldiers to Iraq without consulting the minister of Foreign affairs. The lies regarding the reelection. The changing of the constitution just for that purpose. The mockery in the aduana. The hiring and cavorting with instant civilian made-military drug lords. On and on and on. Believe what you want, citizens will have the government they deserve.
What the purple pest did when they got our public powers? They gave everything to the people who do not have any interest in our national development. They surrendered in front of our traditional powers and now they openly are their partners. They gave in, idiot, without even trying to fight for the people who believed in their words. We are as bad as ever but we have a group of new millionaires ruling Juan Bosch’s party.
When you give yourself and enema and evacuate your moronic beliefs about Hipoloco "the burro" , you will shrink to the size of a midget. Maybe then you can get a new voting card so you can
vote twice for Hipoloco. Then he will have three votes total, your two votes and himself, because even his wife and family don't want him back.
Try to move forwards not backwards. Hipoloco is a bad nightmare from the past, dream about new faces, new persons, new ideas, like Guillermo Moreno for example.
You hear that josean?
I knew sooner or later you would come over from the Purple side, oops I mean the dark side!
However in all fairness and seriousness how should have the Baninter bank case been handled?
Josean, “in all fairness and seriousness” we (PRD people) were not fast enough getting back the financial instruments we used to manage the economic crisis; that was a mistake, but from there on everything was handle perfectly and with billon dollar problems over our heads (yes, USA money) we kept healthy our financial system. We absolutely surpassed the contagious problem thanks to Hipólito Mejía. That is something that Leonel Fernández never could do with all his meetings to discuss everything for finally doing nothing.
The depositor run on the Baninter deposits to withdraw their money could have been avoided by
using different metodology instead of calling a presidential press conference and throwing gasoline on fire.
The Baninter insurance company could have been salvaged as well and in just a few days it was worthless due to the ineptness of Hipolito.
The same thing with the merge with Banco del Progreso.
The Pepe Goico thing was badly managed as well and that's how the whole thing started.
It is well known that Ramoncito and Hipolito had bad words in a public function and this thing deteriorated to a fight amongst titans and the public paid the bill for these two huge egos.
Then the disposal and care of the assetts that were left were looted by the PRD cronies and
buddies of Central Bank governor and Andy Bin Laden.
The whole thing could have been avoided more so that there was another big jealous Dominican private bank urging the confrontation and spreading rumors about Baninter.
F...en Hippo is moron extraordinaire. He really doesn't think he is going to be named as a drug accomplice?
Another classic Dominican education.
WHAT?
The only thing Dominicans are transparent about is their corruption. They wear it as a badge of honor. It is bragging rights, a way to be a macho tigre. They lie shamelessly as though anyone who is listening is a bigger moron.
This pathetic immoral mentality is inbred.
Historians agree about this: we learnt official administrative corruption during the occupation of our country by the United States from 1916 to 1924. Before that we were naughty but after those professors that we had here we ended as we are today: with a problem that we do not know how to resolve.
In Concho Primo times (those times before the presence of the United States in our country) you could find a lot of rebels leaders but not a lot of corrupt leaders, that came later.
In 2003 BANINTER had fourteen years (fourteen years!) with administrative irregularities. They were taking money from the savers for particular investments and they were playing a Ponzi game too (paying interest from new deposits and not from profits). That was a bomb and absolutely nobody could avert that bomb explosion.
The Madoff case is right now in the USA press. Read about that case and you will see what a great liar this Generoso is.
Are you semi catatonic or just dumb?
Looks to me like your are Haitian buster, because of your foul language and I don't like to be called names you a..hole.
If you don't like my comments you catatonic Hipolito burro, write about what I wrote and write some specific rebuttals not general empty statements.
What specific lies are in my statements?
You have a name very apropo to your personality...pee rod.
You vulgarian ignoramus just like your burro boss Hipoloco the huge burramus.
You haven't answered one, not a single ONE of my statements, just rambled on
with your whining and complaining about the purple pests.
Give me facts, pendejo, re read my post and offer a rebuttal. Otherwise go with your boss and exchange each other's vacinilla and drink some soup out of it. It will taste super you catatonic idiot. DUH, DUH.
Yes it's true talking to an illiterate a..hole like you I am another a..hole thinking that I can educate you a bit and rescue you from your useless diatribe.
You are beyond hope, dream on with your other dumb barefoot campuno brain giants that fantasize about Hipoloco returning to power. He had his chance and blew it! Ask all the intelligent Dominicans that voted against him ever returning to a position of power in the DR. In any other country he would have been behind bars!
by many bodyguards in a rampant abuse of power and human rights during his tenure as agricultural minister during the 1978-1982 presidency of Antonio Guzman. Nobody denies that at the time his work as agriculture minister was passable if you compare him to previous ones and
future holders of that ministry. Doesn't make him a world class agriculture minister or even an expert.
His government was the government of the "agronomists" and he ran it to the ground with the help of other agronomists that were like a fish out of water.
I don't say that it's a widely circulated document amongst foreign intelligence analysts. Anyway I don't have to believe it, I witnessed the lousy, corrupt, ambivalent, insecure, populist government
centered around a ninkenpook who was learning on the job and had very partial to themselves
and corrupt mercenary advisers like Andy Bin Laden.
centered around a ninkenpook who was learning on the job "
1996 to 2000 and 2004 to 2008 also fall into that description?
Different MO (modus operandi) basically same end result. Big difference is that the PRD government
everybody is corrupt from the top down to the street sweepers in the PLD only the tops guys have that right. That is why they are labeled by the public "comesolos". Only the top guys can "stew".
So apparent fiscal sanity is portrayed while the big guys accumulate millions.
Government does run better with PLD and is more efficient to the plain eye.
Collections in the PLD government from aduana and taxes increase substantially in the PLD
government but expenditures for non capital expenses like payroll and "miscellaneous" things like trips abroad, restaurant bills, cell phones, cellular use, buying jipetas, and so forth also increase.
Furthermore Hipoloco was the best inside maneuver politician for the PRD and excelled in that
mode, he could have been a good PRD president because he could master the all the "tigueres" in the PRD well and have them eating out of his hand.
But his hunger and thirst for more power and his strong inclinations for ruling in an absolute
no-questions-asked dictator mode fueled his fall and eventual rejection by voters.
Instead of backing Doña Milagros Ortiz Bosch who could have been a much better choice and the first woman president of the DR he broke his promise to her and the citizens of not seeking reelection and went ahead with the reelection efforts, creating malaise and discord in his own party. Even causing the
feud between Hatuey Descamps and his eviction from the PRD more likely called now the PPH.
Decent ministers like Hugo Tolentino Dipp quit in protest to his arbitrary orders and meddling in all matters that he was not an expert in, like foreign affairs.
Still like a good moron child trying to put a square peg into a round hole, Hipo went ahead with the reelection efforts backed by all the corruption millions in the coffers, trying to win solely by mass advertising, populism and cronyism using everything at his disposal including some high ranking military and all of the corrupt, thirsting for more graft sycophants that surrounded him not understanding in his own
perverted messianic complex that his popularity was non existent and to seek reelection trying to
"buy" the votes would have been an exercise in futility.
He ostracized Doña Milagros and she did not join campaign for Hipoloco, now afflicted with presidential thirst rabies, until the end... forced by campaign debt obligations when she reluctantly gave a few lukewarm speeches in support of Hipoloco.
The rest is history, Hipoloco thank God is history as well, you might as well devote your energies
to somebody who is not a "pichon de dictador" and mentally unstable
You only make my point stronger by saying that it has existed since 1924.
In the US there are corrupt people, but when they are discovered they go to jail. Martha Stewart did.
In your country, they shamelessly lie and no one gives a crap.
By now it should have been bred out of you.

Very good comments about the past president HM and right on the money.
Even though he was from the town of Gurabo close to Santiago, I was never fond of him and knew from many close associates that he was not fit to hold the high office of president.
I was embarrassed to say this guy was the president of the Dominican Republic.
His 4 years were the worst nightmare for many honest businessmen from Santiago
and surrounding regions. Most persons don't know but maybe some day will know the horror stories that are exchanged in private of his dubious dealings.

Andy Dahuajare is a prominent figure in the Dominican Republic just because he is a great economist (he is our greatest economist). He was just in the middle of an economic storm only as an adviser (he did not have any government office) and he did a good work. That is the truth and if you do not like it you can cut your veins yourself.
I think this match should be conducted under Olympic boxing rules. So please wear your head gear so you can withstand those heads blows!
