Santo Domingo. - President Leonel Fernandez on Wednesday said the fact that Roberto Micheletti is still in power in Honduras, four months after the coup which deposed Manuel Zelaya, is proof the international organisms have become nonfunctional.

“It’s inconceivable that after such a condemned coup Roberto Micheletti’s de facto government is still in power. So what are those organisms good for if their mandates aren’t fulfilled?” the chief executive said, adding that the standoff has placed the international community has in a “ridiculous situation.”

Fernandez, speaking in the conference “30 years of democracy in Latin America” being held today and tomorrow in the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development, summed up democracy’s history and virtues and vices in the hemisphere.

In the activity participate the ex presidents Ernesto Samper of Colombia, Martin Torrijos, of Panama, and other dignitaries of the hemisphere.

Perhaps LF thinks that if he talks about any other topic other than corruption in our country the people won't focus on that a crappy job he's done. He's been better than Mejia, but only to the extent that you could only go up after that idiot. And as far as looking ridiculous, it's probably the cowboy that looks ridiculuos next to a clown like LF.

Leonel,

Por favor trate de mediar con los problemas interno de la Republica antes entrar sus nariz en los problemas de otros. La eletrcidad, La Economia, La corrupcion y La delinquencia del pais son sus problemas . Dejemos que los Hondureños resuelvan su tollo.

Gracias,
El chico de sajoma :)

"Iran with Nuclear Weapons"

Now, now Banistan, not even the Mossad has been able to confirm that.

Aren’t you just getting a bit carried away with the Mark The Scream’s Rant of the Day and being just a little too Glen Beckish!

But then again facts should never be allowed to get in the way of good fear mongering right wing hyperbole!

Randolph Hearst would be proud of you!

This is the type of violence Fascist Coups generate!

"A nephew of Roberto Micheletti, head of the de facto regime running Honduras since a June 28 military coup, and a high-ranking army
officer were murdered in separate incidents, the National Police said.

Enzo Micheletti had disappeared several days ago and his body was found Sunday along with that of another young man in the northern town of Choloma, while Col. Concepcion Jimenez was gunned down Sunday night in front of his Tegucigalpa house, National Police spokesman Orlin Cerrato told EFE. "

Now Now Josean, what makes you think these acts of violence are somehow related to Micheletti being in power. They could just be random acts of violence with no connection at all to the current goverment situation. There you go again blaming Fascists with everything that's wrong with the world.

I thought Omar Torrijos died in a plane crash 28 y.a. , supposedly the CIA did it because he was redistributing land, and getting a little too lefty, like Bosch (although not assasinated, perhaps because Bosch was never a Comie) and Jaime Roldos (former ecuadorian president) was also killed in a plane bombed by the CIA.

Perhaps the editor means Martin Torrijos the son of Omar?

The man with cowboy hat looks like Vicente Fox, ex-pres from Mexico. Fox is tall & usually has a cowboy hat on and always that moustache . He seemed to be a good president, he had my vote, now doing the diplomatic thing while Calderon deals with all the drug war chaos in Mexico?

I think leonel fernandez is being pressured by higher ups to talk about the situation in honduras, he has been talking about honduras non stop and continues to stick his nose in honduras problems. I think is either bill clinton or hillary or maybey obama thats tellien leonel fernandez . hey go convinced latin american and central america to blackball honduras and put back the zelaya in office again. is so comical watching him talk about honduras so much when half the world already forgot about what happen in honduras months ago.

danny,

Many dictators are born when their country fails their middle to lower classes, then usually the people revolt and a military strongman steps in to restore order and makes false promises and secures that he is the general of all generals or the king of all kings or the commander of all commanders.

In light of my perception of how dictators take power 2 things must come to mind.

1. I don't support governments that fail their largest asset; its people.
2. I much less support dictators.

And the fact that the CIA/United States has intervened in the Western Hemisphere is no conspiracy theory. It is called the Monroe doctrine and subsequently the Roosevelt Corollary to the aforementioned. Which ever form of government you have is irrelevant so long as you support and are subordinate to the US.

I also hope you aren't insinuating that I accept state aid. I don't need to tell you my credentials but please know that other Dominicans and myself are doing quite fine without gov't aid.

Last I am American born and I don't bite the hand that feeds me. Yet I am entitled to my opinion. My opinion is that you don't need to subordinate everyone else to be number one. Unfortunately for millennia that has been the case. For example many people once believed that without slavery economies would collapse, that without mercantilism super powers would cease to exist. Yet we have found ways to circumvent enslaving people and raping foreign lands without giving some back. In lieu of modern Capitalism/Imperialism there are other ways to succeed as a country on the international stage without creating the large disparity that exists among some countries.

Last Danny I am sure that the CIA is loving you because you are not a free thinker and are easily manipulated with sensationalism and white lies (beneficial for promoting ignorance, disparity and in total puppets). Such an easy pawn?

Do you have any creative or independent ideas or are all derived from FOX news, CNN and other media outlets?

Danny I truly mean no offense, I just ask that you read and expand your horizons there is much to be learned. FOr example if you would have had an insightful comment and is based upon truth I would have thanked you for teaching me something new today yet that wasn't the case so perhaps you can read something tonight and have something good to say tomorrow?

I rather like the fact that it is reported that 2 ex Presidents are participating at the conference with Leonel ..but I wish Leonel would just keep quiet on this subject and let the Honduran people work it all out themselves with an election later this year .

Is LF for real. Our country is run by a bunch of stupid corrupt officials and he has the nerve to say anything about another country. LF you are a joke to the international community. Everyone knows our little island is full of stupid corrupt officials stealing money from the poor and making their lives miserable. The one thing that does bother LF is that the people decided their current leadership was unfit to lead and replaced them. This is what scares him. Someday after enough abuse the people will elect a true leader or remove the one currently in power by its own means. Our people need non corrupt leadership to bring us into the 21st century.

josean , like I had promised they have discovered the real mafia behind the charcoal business in the DR.
Usually when the prove you wrong yo go into hiding.
one had to be naive or just plain stupid to think that a bunch of poor and ignorant Haitians wouild cross the border to come in the DR to cut trees down , erect furnaces and make charcoal, then transport the charcoal into Haiti without the direct supervision of a Dominican mafia.
Your antiHaitian reflexes cloud your best judgement.

ALBA and other nations need to have a rapid response force to deal with this type of situation.
but now help the Hondurans win back their country. This is a against the duplicity of the US that carries on trading with the illegal regime instead of starting a blockade. If the Carib nations had a few submarines a blockade would be entirely possible. An alternative would be to assemble a force of Somali pirates and provide them with safe haven on some deserted island somewhere, or the Russians could give training in special operations....
