Santo Domingo. - Chief justice Jorge Subero on Tuesday said the Supreme Court’s (SCJ) Penal Chamber judges investigate their colleague who released on bail of Sobeida Felix, linked to the seized 4.6 million dollars Police say is owned by her alleged paramour, the also fugitive Puerto Rican Jose Figueroa Agosto.

He said since October 27 the Penal Chamber judges have questioned judge Rosanna Vásquez, to state her reasons to allow Felix’s release on bail. “Last Friday the magistrates of the referred Chamber interviewed her and we are awaiting the results of that mission.”

Subero said the authorities’ weakness to provide follow up and guarantee enforcement of the bail conditions, aside from temporary incarceration, has prompted the high Court to evaluate and possibly adopt regulations in addition to those measures to bolster what the Penal Procedural Code stipulates.

He noted that in 2005 during the Release by Bail Law and before the current penal procedural norm was in effect, the SCJ had established which ones were the powerful reasons a judge could consider to set bail.

Disbar the judge and remove her from job, then investigate her finances and that of her extended family and confiscate all illegal gains and return them to the national coffers. Also, throw this inept and corrupt official into La Victoria, for good measure.

Yes, make her a good example for others not to follow..., then positive change could begin in earnest.

Glomar:
In a country where the populace cared your ideas would be applied. However, it is never going to happen here. Especially now that the baseball season has started. No one cares about anything else. The new hero in the country is the ballplayer who killed a friend, paid the family a couple of million pesos and got them to drop the charges.

Almost every day there's a report of a judge letting a criminal go free. Obviously the legal system is following the military's lead of working hand and hand with the cartels. I guess it just too hard to turn down that hundred grand or so and then letting someone go, or lose a file.

Of course if they get caught that slap on the wrist hurts awfully bad!

Since USA funds anti-drug efforts in the DR, I can't see why the US Ambassador has yet to make any public statement, condemming the Mickey Mouse Judicial Dept of the DR. After all, it is US taxpaypers money he is spending in these efforts. If it (money) is being pissed away, some displeasure should be documented via the US State Dept.
