SANTO DOMINGO.- The Presidency’s Chief of Staff Wednesday admitted that the Government is concerned with the constant corruption scandals, but said what’s important is the authorities’ sustained attitude to confront them.

Cesar Pina Toribio affirmed that no other administration has been more concerned than president Leonel Fernandez’s, in organizing the fight against corruption.

The most recent corruption cases involve the then director of the Technical Land Transport Office (OTTT) Franklin Beltré, and of Marcos Lara Lorenzo, suspended as head of the of Blackouts Reduction Program, an agency of the State-owned power companies CDEEE.

He said the denunciations of irregularities in government agencies have been quickly addressed, in the cases where evidence was found.

Pina, interviewed on Telesistema Channel 11, said it’s been Fernandez’s administration which has taken corruption cases to court, getting convictions in some of them. “There’s no attitude by the authorities to tolerate corruption.”

Well, well, well. So what was the name of that congressmen from the congressional black caucus that hid dirty money in his refrigerator?; I know two wrongs don’t make a right, but corruption is all over.....and as long as we have a free press and individuals oversight the problem will be control.

I agree with the press release ..the scandals area concern and no government before has done as much as the current government to pursue the corrupt officials ..but of course , instead of sweeping the corruption under the carpet as before , there are more prosecutions and dismissals and so more things cone into the open ..it is a good course of events
