Santo Domingo.- “I am doing much work in the party. If they want a man of my profile then they should look to me” was the Interior and Police Minister’s response when asked about his potential candidacy for the next presidential elections.
Franklin Almeyda said he doesn’t know how to feign and that he’s available for the decision of the ruling PLD party as one of its candidates.
The official, interviewed in the Channel 9 program Hoy Mismo, said he hasn’t launched his candidacy abroad, as has been reported after he participated in a rally in New York City, where he said his country needs a leader with his profile.
He affirmed that it was a gathering with Dominicans where he spoke among other things, about citizen security.
In addition to Almeyda, the PLD senior members Danilo Medina, Jose Tomas Perez and Jaime David Fernandez Mirabal are also reportedly making contacts for a possible presidential run.
On the topic of immigrants, the Interior and Police Minister said that if a foreigner cannot prove the time they say has been in the country, they won’t be able to regularize their condition as resident and will have to return to their place of origin.
The official clarified that the migration regulation doesn’t contemplate an amnesty, and instead a stabilization of the condition of foreigner. “Amnesty is a pardon for everybody and it is not what the Dominican norm contemplates in that aspect.”

A question for the US State Dept. (SD):
Why does this man still have a valid USA VISA? He is part of the problem we all are fighting in this country (DR). He is not worthy of this status, he has a very shady history.
Government official says that he would not like to seek a higher office.
Minister Lazysob today announced that he will not be seeking a higher office. "Being a Minister is much tougher work than anyone realizes. It is a full time job trying to appear as if I am actually doing some work. What about all the time I have to spend inventing job titles for my friends and family. You think that's easy? And what about those trips I go on every six or so weeks. You try to pretend that you are doing research at the beach or in a brothel. It's much harder than you think. For those, and other reasons that I am too lazy and/or stupid to think of, I will be only seeking reelection to my current cushy position. Now please go away, it is nap time."
