SANTO DOMINGO.- State-owned Electrical Companies (CDEEE) vice president Radhamés Segura denied the journalist Nuria Piera’s allegations of nepotism in that agency, but admitted the donations to churches, patients, NGOs and other institutions.

He said the report was a media "two-step" or repetitions of things which were divulged a long time ago in the CDEEE. “We live in a democratic country, where every one has the opportunity to speak what they consider most convenient."

Speaking in a conference in the Dominican Engineers, Architects and Surveyors Guild (Codia), the official said nobody is free from committing errors in the agencies, and that perhaps he prompted some sectors’ antipathy by designating some people.

Segura said the media don’t talk about the wages of the executives of the private electrical companies and cited the power company EG Haina Financial director’s US$26,000 and the distributor company EdeEste foreign administrator’s RD$90,000 per month.

Mr. Segura appears to not have a grasp on the meaning of the words Public and Private. A private company is allowed to do as they pleases when it comes to wages, as they only have to account to their stakeholders. In a Public institution the Public is the stakeholder, and has a right to know the facts and object when necessary.

OK. So he is admitting to illegal donations. His claims of giving them to churches and patients is a crock, just a cover story. But exactly who are these NGOs and "other institutions"? His bank account, or maybe straight to his pocket? The fact that some of these accusations are not new only highlights the fact that they have been known about for a long time, but still go uncorrected. And the acknowledgement that "perhaps he prompted some sectors’ antipathy by designating some people" is only his way of admitting that he hired friends and relatives to do nothing high paying jobs. I would love to know how much this liar makes and by how much his worth has increased during his tenure.

More than anything else, however, let's not forget the condition of our electrical system thanks to his incompetent leadership.

And then let's THROW THIS BUM OUT!!!

During my tenure as a resident of the DR, I have observed that Government Employees, Ministers, and even the President, tend to "slide around" giving direct answers, or even truthful answers, to the questions posed by the Public on all matters.
This seems to be the usual "forked tounge speak" of Dominican politicians.
Not unlike Germany's Goebels, of WWII fame, they have the idea that if you say an untruth often enough, and emphatic enough, it wil eventually become the truth.
The "free press" is the only adversary on th ehorizon of public outcry against the foibles of the Dominican Government activities, and each Ministry does its best to negate the reporting done by the media investigators.
The problem with CDEEE isn't just overpayment of personnel, the problem is the personnel themselves. There is no such thing as "CUSTOMER SERVICE" in that organization, else the problems with the Electrical Infrastructure would have been solved 50 years ago.

You are correct; they have an entitled corruption mentality and the education of an eleven year old.

They lie because they think they are right and continue to lie to make the first lie to be less of a lie.

Fire this bum.

Love the headline. Energy czar fights back. Says that he is a crook just like the others, so that makes it OK for him to piss away our money.
