Santo Domingo.- The Police is looking for several people who shot a 27 year old man six times, reportedly the head of the gang the Latin Kings, who was intercepted in front of Independencia park when he was inside a vehicle, the Police said.

It said Walter Carlos Martinez died in Padre Billini Hospital where he was taken after his assailants fired six bullets into different parts of his body, while sitting in a white Honda Civic. Crime Scene Investigators (DICRIM) arrived at the site to look for evidence.

The Latin Kings belongs to the group The Nations

At the beginning of June 2008 Billy Omar Vargas Perez, was stabbed 37 times and his throat slit by his inseparable friend Jonathan Alexander Rodriguez Lopez, who according to reports was conducting of a satanic rite.

They both belonged to the gang the Metalists, which contrary to the Latin Kings use unusual tattoos and diabolic symbols, according to their rank within the organization.

When I was growing up here in NYC the Latin Kings, though they had some other Latinos in their ranks, were always considered and still basically are a Puerto Rican street gang. Even originality is in short supply among the current crop of garbage currently infesting the Republic.

It's chilling to hear that members of the Latin Kings gang are in this country. Those guys are about as sadistic as it gets.

The last thing this country needs is for these organized crime types to start 'recruiting' here.

It's interesting indeed that this guy was gunned down here.

Yet another tip of an iceberg. The police definitely have their hands full...

Well Blutarsky you are wrong. Actually The Almighty Latin Kings first emerged in Chicago in the 1940s after several young Puerto Rican males organized into a self-defense group to protect their community and to unite all Latinos into a collective struggle against "oppression"[1]. Their goal was to help each other overcome the problems of racism and prejudice that newly arriving Puerto Rican and Mexican immigrants were experiencing and to serve as a vanguard for their communities.

Also, to the comment posted by cibaeno75, i also live in NYC and my best friend is from Puerto Plata. He tells me that not only are their Latin Kings chapters but also Blood chapters in his hometown and that they were exported there by Dominicans living here in NYC who have joined these organizations themselves.

JPerez,
True, but............you forgot to mention there are also branches of Latin Kings in Southern California, although a little different from current Latino gangs [most are Puerto Ricans].

Word is threw law enforcement the LK's are mainly taggers and part time gang bangers, they are still no match against the traditional Mexican/Latin gangs of Los Angeles.

Most Puerto Ricans are not feared by the Mexican/Latino L.A gangs.

Traditionally PR's are hated by other Latinos groups in California, but then again there has always been division among West coast Latinos that dates back over 60 years in the first place.

Understand.....In the East coast the word "Street gang" meant every youth on your street to include Blacks and other ethnic groups, here in the west its another story, their divided by Latin Country's because of their larger numbers.

Take care.
