The Batey Relief Alliance offers a cost-effective way, away from stores’ hustles, and private into your quiet home environment, to support one of its many projects, while knowing that your tax-deductible dollar gift will save a precious life. Each year, more than 80,000 people living on the edge inside the Dominican Republic’s impoverished sugarcane communities known as bateyes, urban barrios and rural slums receive at our medical clinics critical medical care and essential medicines to treat the many diseases they have.
Small children and adults who are HIV or living with HIV/AIDS receive the caring attention and antiretroviral therapy they need to combat the deadly virus. We also make sure that their living environment is adequate for them and their family members to develop by giving them access to clean water, food and micronutrients, dental and eye care, education and small business opportunities to become self-sufficient.

Sorry...got the text reversed...read below first!
The world is a tough place when no one gives you a chance....such is the case with many in this country....again...regardless of social background or heritage. I am hoping that through educational support.....the world becomes more accesible for those who have the opportunity to learn.
To all of you, wherever you may be....best wishes for this time of the season where we thing more of others...than we do of ourselves.

I for one...help both. To me there is no national line when it comes to those living in dire conditions. I also see that in those conditions...they care not...what nationality or heritage one is....they work together to survive.
This Friday, I...with the support of the many guests who have continued to bring educational supplies to support a "volunteer" school in Bavaro, along with the staff of Tropical Storm Catamaran...are holding a Beach Christmas Party for the kids of the Bario. The kids will be picked up with TS's Tour bus and brought down to the beach and enjoy a feastive couple of hours, gift bags containing school supplies and personal grooming items, plus special gifts for those displaying attendance and achievement.

To bad we can't get the Rich Super Star Dominican Ball Players to lift a finger to help with this cause and the presence of the International News Media present to make sure the goods get to the needy.
Somebody please correct me, if I'm wrong.....

I just mailed a check for $50.00 to help out and I feel soo good.
I never knew that helping people in need could make you feel so good.
I will do it again.

The reason why you feel so good Etienne is because you are so Evil and a stranger to helping others. You are the GRINCH who stole Christmas, you are the Scrooge of the 21st century. I know your type you only help people in December and for the rest of the time you carry your evil deeds with ease. ABA Etiennc01

one of the reasons why Dominicans living abroad do not bother to try and bring material help for the indigent is the customs department. a friend of mine tried to bring a dozen hospital beds as gifts to public hospitals. Customs demanded that he pay some extortionate duties, at which point he simply abandoned them at the wharf. needless to say, some General probably sold them to the government at a ridiculous price, splitting the take with one of the 20 or so "deputy ministers".

Dreadlocks,
SO SAD, BUT TRUE. In the Dom. Rep. Customs Officials can smell and spot money a mile away, they have systems in the system already in place to make money one way or another.

I spent the entire hour of my TV show in New York raising money for hurricane victims in Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba and Texas. My conscience is at peace.

I will admit some times I come off the wall, but deep down inside I'm Human like all the rest.....Just trying to open the Hearts and Minds of all, thats all. If I babble, it's only to try and get there, deep down inside the beliefs of others thats all.
