Santo Domingo.- New York Yankees third baseman Álex Rodriguez is in Dominican Republic to take part in a golf tournament for charity, and from where he’s expected to announce his decision to play with the local team in the World Baseball Classic next March.

Sources close to the Classic’s local organization told EFE that the player of Dominican origin would announce his decision tomorrow together with Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz, the golf toruney’s organizer.

“It’s a fact that Álex (Rodriguez) will announces his integration to the Dominican team that will participate in the Classic,” said the source, who affirmed the third baseman had signed the participation form, basic requirement of the organization.

I can assure you Americans applaud this decision if they even care ....On the other hand if Alex had chosen to play for the USA the Dominicans would have acted like he shot their mother.....it is a pity

Goulet, The US media will bury him for choosing The Dominican Republic.

BTW Alex Rodriguez, who initially wanted to play for the Dominican Republic team in the 2006 World Baseball Classic, only to be pressured in to switching to play for the U.S. team.

thanks manny common sense prevails ...America would be just as happy to see the DR win the tourney as the USA as they always pull for the perceived underdog ...even though every thing will be pretty even ...and Alex is welcome to play for whoever he wants ....pitching will win it anyway

GC you are as ignorant about baseball as you are ignorant about everything else.

apparently you know nothing about the game but feel the need to make a post.
FYI we didn't lost to mexico it was cuba that beat us in the semi-finals.

i shouldn't be surprise about your stupidity you post a comment on every news article on this site, sometimes replying to your own comments.

haha, Mexico "whopped" DR? If I remember correctly a Dominican infielder dropped a fly ball in the 9th Inning and Mexico won by one. As for A-ROD, I don't get it, you chose to play for USA and now DR, why didn't you play for DR int he first place? Anyway...hes a welcome addition...hopefully Pedro and Manny get on board, I'm pretty sure Pujols will, and we got Sammy on the bench jeje, or we can put em on first base.

GC stop with nonsense the world baseball classic is a world event that includes baseball crazy countries such as DR , venezuela, mexico, cuba, japan etc, etc.

your ignorance about the game is Mind numbing and yet you continue to make and azz out of yourself.

DR own la serie del caribe , the most victories and the most series championships ever in the history of the event.

" enthusiasm its dead "

were where you last tournament ? (i know you were working on your moonshine destillery down in st thomas.)
but if you were in DR you wouldn't be saying all this garbage you talking about the level of interest.
the whole island tune in to see the boys compete at world stage dude.

Lets see how the DR will feel about Arod when he puts up his usual big game numbers. When his stat line reveals a .110 batting avg. with runners in scoring position and he consistently hits into rally ending double plays. Arod is only a great player when nothing is on the line, when there is pressure he wilts and bends like the weakest reed. He has never lead any team team to success.

The biggest consistent choker in pro sports history.

Before Alex played for the U.S> he used to be like god in DR, we all loved him and he made more money. Now none cares about him, Americans don't either. So he's kind of screwed.

As far as being loved in the U.S. The Yankees did not win the World Series this year, right again. As far as his personal life....His X-Wife got a very good settlement, She does not even play Baseball. The last thing we'll hear A-- Rod saying in public or private is......"Basebal, been very very goud to me"
Before I cut this short, as far as A-- Rod being loved in the DR......Let the Yankees win the next World Series then visit the DR, you'll see..

The Children's Aid Society

In 2005, Alex donated $200,000 to the Children's Aid Society, a NYC-based children's advocacy/charity group. His donation supported the placement of therapists into schools located in Washington Heights -- the neighborhood in which Alex was born. These therapists bring stability and much needed mental health care into the NYC public school system. Once again, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America benefited from this donation, as the therapists were placed into clubs located within select NYC public schools. The donation will fund the project for an entire school year.

I'm very sorry no slack, just facts.
In the U.S to date there are over 200,000 501-C-3's Non-Profit Organizations and counting. So how does one get into the $$ BIZ, simple just love Money, thats all...
Just cause your a 501 C-3 does not mean you can't turn over a profit.
Get a group of individual's, mark, lodge document your meeting.
Vote your Board in, Structurer your BY-Laws.
51 % of your Board are Volunteers the other 49 % are PAYED Employees.
In your By-Laws one documents your pay per year I'LL RECOMMEND AT LEAST 10 % OF ALL MONEYS TAKEN IN..Thats average.
Document and submit your purpose, MISSION STATEMENT.
File and submit with a fee to your Local State and Fed. Gov.
Meanwhile Find the Super Hero Type, The bigger the better, which some who are looking for Tax relief. Who cares, theres no checks and balances or follow threw anyway in this BIZ.
UNTIL ONE HIT THE BIG LEAGUES.......THEN.

Continue......
Be careful other 501-C-3's start taking notice { taking there money ] now the real fight begins, most corporates and Super Hero type in the U.S [ unwritten rule ] will demand stuff like "MADE POSSIBLE ONLY THREW BLA..BLA.. ] so if your smart you'll start advertising with state of the art broshires, pictures and all, be sure and add some poor kids face in it...To look good, poster Child like. If that does not work, simple offer mini grants to knock off your competition [ in this BIZ you can't double dip ] AT THIS POINT WHO CARES...

Continue again....
Money brings in more Money every Super Hero needs a Tax write-off period and every cost associated with your 501-C-3 is a tax write-off anyway, it's a no lose situation.

NEXT TIME ANYBODY IS IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, JUST TRACK DOWN THE WHOLE OPERATION FROM START TO FINNISH.....If your not satisfied then roll up your selves and be ready to get down and dirty. As they say, just follow the Money, thats all.
Almost forgot be sure that the 51 % board members are Rich, Famous and if possible some Pliticos would be most helpful, mark my word on this.
