SANTO DOMINGO. The Brugal Foundation and the Puntacana Foundation will host the II Golf Foundations Match, to raise funds for health and education projects, slated for Saturday, November 28 in Puntacana Resort & Club’s golf course, featuring the Scrambles modality in pairs.
Brugal Foundation director Lizzie Sanchez said the initiative is part of the inter-institutional collaboration and commitment with people’s well-being. She said the funds raised in 2009 will be used to develop the third stage of the public clinic at Verón, and to train, provide follow up and support the teachers and managers of the Fe & Alegria education centers across the country.
“The Brugal Foundation makes a special emphasis in supporting projects that contribute to improve the quality of education and guarantee access to students who live in vulnerable communities. The Foundations Match is an important action to motor those initiatives which have had so much impact,” Sanchez said.
The Brugal Foundation and the Puntacana Foundation have traditionally supported social, cultural and environmental programs in the communities where they operate. In Puntacana’s case the programs are developed in eastern Higuey province, whereas Brugal focuses in the northern Puerto Plata region.
“Development in the Dominican Republic is possible only if we guarantee that future generations have access to a prosperous and healthy life,” said Puntacana Foundation director Paul Beswick.
