Santo Domingo. - In the next few days the Central America and Caribbean regional semifinals of Microsoft’s Imagine Cup 2008 competition will be staged in Santo Domingo, with this year’s topic "Imagine a world where technology allows a sustainable environment," and where APEC university students won the right to represent the country in this contest.

In the local semifinals O & M University, Loyola Polytechnic Institute and APEC University won third, second and first place respectively.

Microsoft Academic relations manager Gilberto Molina said they are very satisfied with the creativity and performance levels shown by each of the competing teams. "In Microsoft our mission is to help people reach their maximum potential and this competition we have developed is an excellent platform to obtain it."
