Santo Domingo.– Dominican poets Deidamia Rebeca Galan and Cesar Augusto Zapata will represent the country in the Puerto Rico International Poetry Festival 2009, to be held from 26-30 October in San Juan.

The initiative, sponsored by several cultural and education institutions, will host a series of activities ranging from poetry recitals, literary exhibitions, workshops and cultural activities across select venues in San Juan.

This year the festival is dedicated to renowned Puerto Rican poet Vicente Rodriguez Nietzsche, whose poetry combines his clamor against political and social ills, as in Mural (1973), Te digo Fidel (1978), with a loving and delicate eroticism, as in Del dulce pie tu caminar tranquilo (1983), Vuelvo a enhebrar la musical costura (1989), No supe enamorarme de azucenas (1992), and the religious, as in Para tocar la música de tu amor (1988).
